The Rain came Down and the Floods came up
Got the GO train into Toronto (they actually don't GO very fast!). The smell of cinnamon buns from Cinnabun was just too much and I had to have one! Mmmmm just as good as they smell! Walked down Front Street to the CN Tower and Rogers Centre enjoying the sights and sounds along the way. A nice sunny day with a few clouds in the sky. Coukldn't really get a good view of the CN Tower though-bit misty up there!
Walked down to the Harbourside (traffic lights very easy to use and easy to follow the sidewalks) and it was very windy! Good views of the city, CN Tower and Rogers Centre. Took lots of photos-well you have to! Then walked back up towards King Street West. Then the rain started! Sure it was just a light shower and would pass right? Wrong! Lets just say everything is bigger and louder in North America! This was Canadian rain! Being English I had my umbrella ready-but it was no match for this rain! Took shelter under a tree in Clarence Park. Then the thunder and lightning started! Lightning flashed literally feet away from the trees and then I remebered trees are not the place to be under when theres lightning! So ran to a petrol station-took shetler under it but the rain was so strong there was no where to hide! So took refuge inside.
Some time later the rain calmed down and I was able to venture down King Street West. Went to the Eaton Centre and spent many happy hours there shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Hollster, Blue Notes, Aeropostle and Old Navy. When I came outside at 6pm the rain had gone and the sun had returned. Got to the train station to catch the 6.43pm train. There were loads of people waiting around looking lost. West bound trains were suspended due to flooding on the line! Torontoians seemed perplexed by this but being English I knew there would be some form of bus service laid on. Well caught the 7.43pm train but it didn't leave the station until 8pm becasue there was uncertainty as to when the replacement busses would be at Mimico station. On arrival at Mimico they said that it was safe for the train to continue (didn't see any busses...) but we had to wait there a further 40mins so a train behind could come in and give us there passengers... Arrived back at 9.30pm tired from my train journey that should only take 30mins!
Turns ot this had never happened before in Toronto....Had I really brought the weather with me? Now I have to get back on the train tomorrow...
