Good Morining Vietnam indeed! After leaving Cambodia 11 hours ago, we finally arrived in HCMC (03/10/2011), Vietnam after the apparant '8' hours journey we had been told!
We found, or should I say the hotel owner 'found us' a nice little guest house called 'my home' which was in the backpacker area of the City. HOT WATER!!! First time im ages!!
HCMC is cool, but initial thoughts are that it doesn't have a patch on Cambodia. I even saw a Chanel shop! Everywhere is built up and looks very western. Think I've just been used to an undeveloped country, where dirt tracks and wooden huts are the norm.
We took a organised bus trip to see the Chu Chi tunnels which were cool. I went down all that were available, but only lasted 20 metres undergroung before I came up, as it was so tiny, dark and hot down there! It lasted 100 metres for tourists to go, but I couldnt go any further! We watched a documentary about the tunnels and the people lived down there for years during the war - amazing stuff! The picture of me here is tiny tunnel but we could only literaly fit down, and I'm small even so goodness knows what the others were like! We could only spend a few seconds down there before the others in the group wanted a go, but at least it gave us all an idea of what it was like.
Leaving for a beach resort, Mui Ne in the morining.
