Spent whole day travelling to arrive in Penang, a big island in Malaysia by late afternoon, a quick change and went for yummy indian food and a few backpacker pubs and ended up dancing in our trainers and day clothes into the early hours, with the locals totally loving us and wanting us to dance with them! They are very nice people and there were also a shed load of Auzzie army men. All in all a really good night apart from the crimes against fashion, we are now officially wanted by the fashion police!
Georgetown is a weird place, mix of indian, chinese, malay and then a british feel to it as well. Went to Fort Cornwallis the next day (where the British arrived in 1700's for those history buffs reading this) and then took taxi's to a spa resort where we thought we could pay to use the facilities but apprently not!! Chilled on the beach instead and had a cheeky dip in the hotel pool anyway..!
late in the afternoon we rocked up at the big buddhist temple on the hill, just as it started to chuck it down and i realised that I had really caught the sun ( I think everyone will know which one of us is writing this) and I have even managed to burn my scalp!
Headed back across town by local bus which was an experience and then went to the outdoor Hawker market which is basically like the Food Court at the White rose centre, only the food was slightly different! The Laksa made me want to vom, nothing like the lovely one that Nic makes and the onion ice cream was rather interesting! But all good fun!
Took the ferry and coach today to the Cameron Highlands where we are staying tonight in a place that makes Faulty Towers look like a palace! Going for a steam boat meal tonight where, from what we can grasp, you throw a load of ingredients in a hot bowl and see if its edible. In the morning, going to strawberry and tea plantations before travelling to Kuala lumpa for a couple of nights.
Over and out
