Hey everyone,
Today is my 3rd and final day in Athens. As I had another late night the previous night before I slept in until about 7am on p the second day in a row. I was highly impressed! I went down for breakfast straight away and ate exactly the same thing as the day before but the fresh fruit and yoghurt was far better then a remembered to. It was so delicious and I reluctantly tried the juice again in the hope that maybe just maybe the juice would taste better today. To my dismay it still tasted the same.
After breakfast I hurried back upstairs to Skype with my mum and dad. Seen as it was a Saturday Mum and Dad were finally available to talk. The connection wasn't as good as is was when I was in Amsterdam but I could still see them and talk to them which was amazing! I have definitely taken family and friends interactioin for grant in the past because i'm really missing home and talking to familar faces!
After talking to my mum and dad, I packed my bag for the day making sure a packed a towel for my day at the beach and made tracks for the Omonia Square bus stop. I travelled all the way through to the Acropolis stop and had to changed to the Piraeus bus route. It wasn't the most interesting ride, quiet boring actually and I eventually got off at the stop for Votsalaki Beach.
I went around to find a café for lunch and I decided to settle with Freddo Café/Bar alongside the marina. It was a nice relaxing change to the busy city traffic. i stayed there for a good hour and a bit then made my way back around to the beach.
I'm thinking it's either school holiday at the moment or the kids frokm that particular area didn't go to school because there was sooo many kids at this beach. After looking like one of the hot coal walkers I hurried to the sand to quietly set my towel up as the sand was so bloody hot, Personally much worst then our beach sand we have back home. I actually wore my bikinis to the beach for the first time every. Usually i'm so self conscience about wearing a bikini but I said to myself. What the heck, these people are never going to see me again and it was like spot the whitey on the beach because everyone was so bloody tan!!
As I was sun baked I was listening to all the greek conversations that were going on and to me they all seem like they are yelling at eachother but they are probably just talking normally, It was highly entertaining. After staying there for quite some time I decided to head back and stop off at the Plaka to try the gelato. I picked the Cookies flavour as ell as the Caramel flavour. Thhey were bloody amazing. If only they had a Mint Chocolate flavour. I would be one VERY VERY happy lady.
On the way back to my hotel I decide to take one last stop at the Panathenaic Stadium and WOW I'm so glad I stopped off here. I did the free guided tour which was really good it took you throu the history of. The stadium whilst you walked around different sections. It was the original stadium used for the very first Olympic Games. The whole stadium is made of marble and it's one of the most beautiful thing I've seen so far.
After jumped on the 4.30 bus to make my way back to the hotel. Once I arrived I went upstairs, had a shower and utilised the bathroom into a laundry mat again to clean the remainer of my clothers.
It was suprisingly quite a late one and I was a bit worried that I would sleep in because I had to be up early to leave for a 5.30 pick up transfer. So just incase I set my alarm for 3.30 so I had enough time to pack.
Anyways. I'd best be off. I'm only one entry behind now. I've done well to catch up!
Hope all is well back home. I've been told there's going to be an election on in September. Luckly I will have Lesley with me in Paris so it won't be all my fault if I don't do it right, I will have someone to blame as well as me :-)
Talk to you all soon!
Love JB
