Malo e leilei! (hello in tongan) 3rd day in hospital today and just as stressful, 2 1/2hrs today! then off to the little island again. Doing paediatrics all week so spent some time doing new baby checks on 1 day old babies which was quite nice,except there was a huge spider on the ward!! On that note, there was a huge spider in our bathroom,right next to my room, yuk! one of the boys had to get it last night as I couldn't sleep, i'm such a girl! they aren't poisonous here but the run fast and jump, mum u'd love it!! The hospital enviroment is so different to home its unbelievable, the doctors are constantly on their mobiles on the ward round, the paeds ward is set out like a stable and is just about clean,the ward round takes no time at all but its full of laughter which is nice-the drs,children and parents even though some of the children are really quite sick, iv not seen any parents get distressed or angry yet-like u see at home- i think they just have a different way of dealing with things, and are so grateful for everything. They are even constantly thanking us, the palangi-white people!- even though we aren't really doing much! It was the hottest day yet here today so we went to the island for the afternoon and it was beautiful. The water is so clear and the sand is lovely,and covered in shells,perfect for me! Also ate some homemade chips which was nice instead of bland pasta and rice! I tried to uploads some photos yesterday and today but it just isn't working which is really frustrating. May have to do it when I get to sydney, which isn't actually long now really,crazy,its going quite quickly really since being in hospital, which is good in one way as i'm a bit homesick : (. anyway, about it for now, il write again at end of week.
