(Susi) yesterday we visited Stow-on-the-Wold, in the heart of the Cotswalds. Probably the most picturesque little town we have seen so far. Did the little self-guided walking tour with a brochure from the tourist info. Some highlights: Buildings from the 12th century. An inn that was a posting station already in: 942 !!! Wow. It boggles our minds. And ever so many quaint tea rooms.
Also visited Stratford upon Avon and toured Shakespeare's birth house as well as the house he bought for his daughter. He was apparently quite wealthy by his mid 30's already.
On the way from Bath to Stow we visited Blenheim Palace. What grandeur! But one of my favourite things was the extremely large labyrinth (see picture, which shows less than 1/4 of the maze)
Today we are off to see the Peak District National Park, which all you P&P fans will recommend as the beautiful scenery that Lizzie visits with her aunt & uncle. If time permits we might even visit Mr Darcy at Pemberley....
