(Lori) Oxford is a wonderful city (you were right, Jess - I love it!)
The Kilns, CS Lewis' home was the visit for today. An enthusiastic lit prof on a stint as head resident & expositor, 6 Lewis devotees, an afternoon in Jack's authentically restored home, a ramble through Shotover Hill (former Lewis lands that have been left as a nature reserve),permission granted to eat our lunch in the garden... I think I just might be living the definition of bliss!
Cutest moment so far: a lively 2ish year old girl with blonde curls on the bus home from Oxford City last night who looked directly at me and cheerfully spouted "Bye bye, ducky!"
Best undetected moment: while travelling the tube a young tourist couple boards; the young man takes photo of his pretty lady - caught watching: a senior gentleman with his wife observing the young couple, & smiling in kindest fondness or perhaps remembrance of his youth.
Most mesmerizing activity: watching the traffic - vehicles of all sorts just kind of weave along the road, in a smooth movement of wending around oncoming traffic, parked or double parked vehicles, road work, cyclists, emergency response vehicles; nothing stops, all the drivers just flow in, out and around each other in unbroken motion. Fascinating stuff, that.
