(Susi) We often think of Fort Langley as old, because it was the birthplace of BC. Here, everything is much older.

I'm sure the building our hotel is in was built before Ft Langley. Although the bathroom is newer...

Visiting the Tower of London was an amazing experience. It was first built by William the Conqueror around 1100 AD. And has held the crown jewels for 500+ years. Many of the buildings we toured were built over 700 years ago, and thinking of all the famous people who lived, or walked there, or spent their last days there...

And then as we were leaving the Tower, on the way to the Tube we spotted a section of very old looking wall. Turns out it was built by the Romans in 200AD!!!

We have crammed a lot into a few days, with lots of walking and are tired, weary and a little sore. We are now "Tube experts" although we don't recommend travelling with heavy suitcases during rush hour. Especially if alighting in Victoria Station which has not yet been refurbished with "lifts" so one has to lug heavy suitcases up several flights of stairs....

We are so impressed with the amazing transportation system here. It is quick easy and very efficient. Amazing signage - we have always been able to figure out where we needed to go and which bus or Tube to take. Yesterday we decided to ride above ground, and while a bit slower offers more great visual opportunities.

Another fun experience yesterday - real "World Famous" fish 'n Chips in an Irish style pub. Very tasty... but Neal... you were right about the mashed peas. (we each only managed 1 bite!)

Tonight's dinner we decided to "eat in" and found a little local supermarket. Cheese, a loaf of fresh baked bread, salad in a bag, fruit & some cookies. Went back to our room and had a picnic on our beds. Very nice change, and reasonably priced with enough left over for snacks tomorrow.

Modest priced hotels here are very much no frills = no microwave, no fridge, no telephone, no facecloths, no soap, etc. And very very small!!! We do have a bath mat in this one which we appreciate greatly! But it is very quiet and feels safe so we are happy.
