Well a sleep in was required this morning after the midnight shopping trip to Walmart with my friend jim beam. We had a late breakfast and packed our stuff to leave Roanoke and drive to fort worth stockyards. Before we checked in we went for a drive to stockdale that is a cute little town that looks like it is out of a movie. We then took the kids to gamestop to shop and then drove to Hyatt place located in the stockyards. The hotel is beautiful and is themed old country style that is probably the nicest hotel we have stayed in so far. An afternoon nap was required as we have picked today as our only rest day for the whole trip. I managed a little sleep as the kids were constantly tapping my shoulder asking me things. Once refreshed we headed towards risckeys steakhouse for supper. It is an old western style saloon. I had garlic mash and cowboy chicken, Paul tried a very rare buffalo steak, Jacob finally got to have rack of ribs and Mitch had ranch fries and picked off my plate. The flavours were amazing and we all cleaned our plates. The kids now don't want to go to the burger chains as they now see that real food tastes fantastic. Went for a bit of a wander....the stockyards are cobblestone streets that buildings are kept to original western style. It is one of the best places we have been as it is holding up to the promise of a true Texan cowboy experience.
