Well what can I say, not a good start to the day. We left the Hilton early as we needed to drop off the car before checking in. We left at 7am as our flight was 9am. Seemed easy enough. We could not find the hertz drop off to save our lives. No signs and no idea. 15 minutes before we had to check in at 8am Paul had enough and parked the car in airport multi storey parking. I rang hertz and was put on hold for ages and finally got through to airport office who advised if we left it there we would be liable for towing and additional charges, we had to leave airport and drop off at office. I thought Paul would burst a blood vessel as he had already taken our luggage out of the car and put it on a cart. I didn't think I would be able to not have a breakdown on the spot. We basically flew out of the airport and sped our way around to hertz. We slowed down enough to tell a staff member we needed to get a ride back to the airport 5 minutes ago or we would miss our flight. Thankfully we have an awesome African American lady that basically got in and said to hold on.....she was a demon on the road. We got to check in on time and made our way through security and ready to board with just enough time to go to the restroom. We finally had our smiles back when we got on our virgin america seats to Dallas and even better news was the local weather was going to be cool. Getting the rental car was easy in Dallas and I upgraded to get a big black beast of a 4wd and we had gps....yay....tho not naming any male driver in particular but we still managed to take wrong exits and go down the wrong side of the street....maybe the gps is faulty lol. We are staying in roanoke for the first 2 nights as it is close to the speedway and grape festival that apparently everyone else is here for as well. Once checked in I drove down to get a bite to eat then we grabbed some warm clothes and headed for the rodeo in fort worth. Wow....it was quite a show, the boys even joined in the kid race to chase the calf around the pen. It was certainly a great experience to join all the cowboy hat wearers. Tho there was a loud Texan woo lady behind me that said woo at the top of her lungs at least a million times while we were there. The town we are in is really nice and the people here are the friendliest I have come across and we actually were told " thanks y'all ". Lesson learnt today, texan's love their flag, country, soldiers and god a lot more than Californians.....there are many churches just within our vicinity. We will definitely know the national anthem word for word by the time we leave.
