Out and about in the city
Mrs.Doyle was up early to see to Sydney star household and get the place organised for the weekend for whatever visitors might darken our door.Of course after a leisurely breakfast i got to wander the streets into town before 11a.m passing through the Italian sector, passed so many nice restuarants. I'd heard on the news a commerative service held in Belguim where they were laying to rest the remains of some Belguim soldiers found at Gallipoli so i walked down to Hyde park to pay my respects by passing by the Anzac memorial building and recalling the masses of people at Gallipoli earlier in the year for the commerative service. It's history makes sense now because i understand,i feel i've been educated a lot by my travels and have a greater understanding of what has and is happening in this world.
Passed through the rest of the park, through the outdoor gallery and got splashed passing by the Archibald fountain watching a young boy hang over the edge playing ( i was waiting for him to fall in). I strolled down Martin's place which is where all the big banks are,a mix of old buildings and the new rising up while people in suits weaved in front of my path.It also has a statue in memory of those who died at Gallipoli,it had a few fresh flowers laid beneath it,no doubt in memory of the recent findings of the Belguim soldiers. When i got to the bottom i swung a right and headed for Observatory hill,it was a bit of a walk. From Observatory hill you could see the Harbour bridge stretch over the water and funnily enough there is a bust of Hans Christain Andersons perched up there as well.Down the other side to walk beneath the harbour bridge and along by the quay and into an area know as the Rocks which is one of the oldest parts of this city.I like this area it's got charm and lots of old buildings but also home to the Comtemporary art museum, which i did have a little look around. Some of these artists have very strange ideas of what art is!!
Tomorrow i might attempt an early morning run taking in Elizabeth bay,Potts point,Woolloomooloo warf and then onto the Botonic gardens to have a splash in that lovely pool with the amazing views. That is if i can manage a few lenghts.Tomorrow is Saturday so i want to go to the Paddington market that i missed last weekend and see what i might find.Enjoy your weekend
