Hiya guys - again apologies for the lack of regular updates on here! We've just spent 3 days travelling from Melbourne to Sydney along an adventure tour which was so much fun! :)
Well since my last blog me, Joel and Emma hired a car and drove west of Melbourne along the beautiful coastline known as The great ocean road - we spent the best part of 3 days touring the rock formations, lighthouses and sunny beaches plus chasing after the Australian wildlife! We've managed to see pretty much the whole show now, except for koala bears but apparently they're ugly and have sharp claws!
On Wednesday afternoon we returned to Melbourne to visit Ramsey St and we met...of all the characters...the legend that is Susan Kennedy! It was a bit disappointing that we didn't get to see any of the classic sets such as the coffee shop etc but we did get to go to Ramsey St which is actually called Pine Oak (or something along those lines)b in real life! And people are resident in the houses - they are payed about $20,000 a year to live there but it does mean that they have to leave their houses for filming several early morning a week and put up with numerous tourists. Emma owned the show with her extensive Neighbours knowledge, it was a good afternoon!
So Thursday morning we headed North East towards Sydney on our adventure bus - we met lots of people on the bus - mainly our age, or on a gap year between A-Levels and Uni. We visited a beach called Squeaky beach, it was amazing. The sand actually squeaked when you walked upon it - Emma thought that it was me making silly noises to begin with! It was breathtaking - climbing to a cliff above the beach called Pillar Point. Felt like I was on top of the world! I won't bore you with all the details but there's been so much breathtaking stuff - sometimes I think that Oz could just be England, but there's so many unspoilt areas here! ... & obviously the weather's great too. On our adventure we also so an emu, wild horses, kangaroos and a poisonous snake eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! There are signs everywhere to warn you of snakes and falling trees! So i'm forever watching the ground before i tread! Also managed to fit in a bit of cheeky watersports - doing what's called wakeboarding - it's a cross between water skiing and snowboarding and it was hilarious fun! I was doing flips and wave jumping by the end of the session, NOT! Check out the pictures later on facebook - I'll try and put them up tonight!
Just arrived in Sydney last night and went out with the people we met on the bus - had lots of fun and am looking forward to doing some of the sights over the next few days. We have until Thursday here and then we travel North to Byron Bay where I will be learning to surf!! Massive claim
