-The Gypsy Girl
Today Domi asked me if I wanted to come with her and travel. I looked at her and she had vodka smile from ear to ear and her eyes were sparkling. In my mind I though "oh God" but my lips said; cool, let's go! (Thinking we were going to some party somewhere outside Sao Paulo, - there is always a party somewhere).
After doing everything we had to do in Sao Paulo that day: me studying, following Domi to do 2 tattoos, a bit shopping, walking with Don Juan, meet Samira- Domi's, and also my friend, Eat, we were back home. Domi told me I had 15 min to take a shower and get ready, "put gymnastic clothes, don't bother get dressed up" Domi where are we going, I asked (realizing this was not another party) "We going to a spiritual church" Domi replied. I was not really surprised.. Domi Never stops surprising me!
2 hour car trip, 10 min awake and 1h 50 min sleeping for me.. we arrived to a small city without name. There were no traffic light, no lights at all for the record...
We enter in this church, that from the outside looks like somebody's house. Domi salut the people inside, she introduce me to her cousin that is all dressed in white, a big long skirt, white long sleeve, no shoes and and a white scarf on her head.
The church were divided in two sections, there's a white cloth in lace dividing them apart. The white dressed people, including Domi's cousin on one side, and the rest of us on the the side ..
-This spiritual religion is called Bunda.
There are different kinds of spiritual religions, but Bunda is the only one that was born in Brazil. The religion believes that all people around the world originally comes from Brazil, that its in Brazil life started. When the world were as one, Pangea, you can see that Brazil where situated in the middle, and from there everything started, including human life.
The history says that the slaves brought Bunda from Africa, and they were practicing Bunda together with the Indians. But the believe is that they are all Brazilians that came back to their country.
That's why you can find so many nationalities in Brazil, Indians, black, white, japanese, they are all Brazilians coming back to their country, not because of money or wealth, but because of the nature. Bunda is all about nature, water, wind and earth.
Tonight was about water.
The white dressed people start singing and play on hand-made drums.. one lady is walking around spreading incense around the room, as the white dressed people start dancing.
As time goes by I start to feel a bit dizzy from all the smoke. The sound from the drums is now like a echo in my head, the dance of the white dressed people seems to be more intense and their feet seems to be very heavy. Some of them bends their upper-bodies forward in 90 degrees, shaking their shoulders and walking around with wide steps around the room. Domi tells me this is because the spirits have entered their bodies…
They are walking around with their eyes closed and sometimes they're bombing into each other so two girls are walking around to separating them. Finally they create a circle, sitting down on small wooden stools, and they start to smoke pipes.. Now its our turn to go there, to let them give us a blessing…
Domi tells me I don't have to go if I don't want too. I don't really understand, this is all very new for me. I sit down on my spot and watch Domi and the others receive their blessings from the spirits. 1 hour and a half have now passed by.. and whatever you call it.. spiritual evening, is over.
We're going to a room upstairs. The white dressed people have now changed their clothes and they're sitting down chatting and drinking coffee, we sit down to join them.
A priest start talking to me, or he talks to Domi and she translates for me.
He ask me where I'm from… Domi tells him i'm swedish.
-He says that i'm a person who likes to travel, someone who find it hard to stay in one place for a longer time. It's like he knows me and he's just telling Domi my story. He continues and say to Domi that I like bracelets, accessories and details very much. (this day i'm wearing a hoody, no make up and my hair is a mess)
Domi looks at me and smile. He continue and say that I find it hard to settle in one place because in a past life a were a Gypsy traveling around the world..
He says that i'm very white and very blond, but it has not always been that way.. that inside i'm very colorful. Domi said as joke, yes we know that hehe.
I look at the old man and his kind eyes.. his face has no expression. I where a gypsy in a past life??? what does he mean?? I wanted to ask him more about what to do with my life and which road to take (:P) and what is gonna happen in the future.. but I was like frozen, stiff. In a strange way, I kept quiet.
I never make agreements, just like a gypsy.
I might steel your clothes and wear them if they fit me…
I can't hide what I've done, Scars will remind me of how just how far I've come..
And your a fool if you say no, isn't it how life goes? People fear what they don't know…
I always believed you should respect your background and others backgrounds, at the same time you should always be open for new things. And I love that, new places, people from other countries and other cultures. You know.. I use to be Gypsy. :P
hehe enough of this crazy night.
Godnight, Hope everything is good at home! Fica com Deus!
