Leaving Positano was the first time I've actually felt really sad to move on…I would really have liked to spend more time there & to visit places like Amalfi and Capri, so it's already on my life long bucket list of places to come back to (not to mention the places I haven't even been for the first time!). I really loved the hostel that we stayed in, hostel Brikette. It had such a lovely homely feeling, & the staff (Christiana & Cosimo) made it feel like we were visiting a friend's place, rather than staying in a hostel. Every morning we would come down & place our order for breakfast, & on the last morning I decided to try another one of Christiana's superb crepes, this time with mushrooms, cheese, & onion. I did not disappoint. Turns out she is equally brilliant at producing sweet AND savory crepes! Om nom nom…
We went down to the local bar where the bus left from to try & meet the old man from the restaurant across the road, but unfortunately we were running late & didn't see him there :( Perhaps I'll get to go back one day to visit him and go out squid fishing on his boat…we sat outside on the street having a cup of tea, waiting for the bus, & watched as locals stood by the side of the road chatting & drinking their morning coffees. For a place with barely any room on the side of the road they sure do spent a lot of time standing there! The bus ride to Sorrento was even more terrifying that our last journey along the cliffs of the Amalfi coast & the driver drove way to fast for my liking…Esther & I just closed our eyes (actually), crossed our fingers, & hoped to make it there alive. Fortunately, as you may have guess, we did in fact make it :P
Our hostel in Sorrento was just perfect for the night. We had a private room with a lovely ensuite bathroom & plenty of room. We spent a little bit of time in town having a wander around & then we returned for a few hours of girly pampering (eyebrow plucking, nail buffing, toenail polishing etc. all that good stuff!) while listening to lounge music & show tune classics hehe Then we went down to the hostel bar, which was very fancy indeed, & had a couple of cocktails superbly mixed by the very talented bartender. He asked us what kind of flavours we liked & fired off dozens of suggestions before we settled on something with passionfruit…so he made us a passionfruit daiquiri which was to die for! Next I had a raspberry cocktail & Esther had something mango that was topped with sparkling wine. Both delicious, once again! I had delicious pasta for dinner (penne Arrabiata) on my last night in Italy & all up (including cocktails!) it cost me only 15 euro! Bargain! Having to be up at 5:00AM the next morning to catch the bus to Naples airport for an early flight we both crashed pretty early…& tomorrow I say farewell to Italy & bonjour to Paris once again! :)
