New Zealand is coming to an end, as we move onto Fiji on wednesday. Since I last updated I think we have been on the road quite a bit! After leaving Queensdown after 6 nights there, when we originally planned on staying 3 but loved it so much, we caught the bus onto Dunedin. The last few days in Queenstown were amazing. Our room 22, was renamed 'family 22' as we just got so close. We spent most days and nights together, doing things such as crazy golf and Luge-ing. To get to the Luge we had to get the Gondola (cable car) up to the high-est point in Queenstown. It was like another little village up there, really bizarre! The luge is a kind of go-cart with 3 wheels thats really low to the ground. There were 2 difference courses, the easy and 'advanced' one. I din't realise that you are meant to go down the easy one first, and accidently bombed it off down the advanced on my first run! You literally take off from the floor when you go over the bumps! Really fun, as we went up as a group and raced around the track. Although one time I got caught behind a really slow grandad which I wasn't too pleased about haha. In Queenstown we also got to meet up with Amy and Alice which was cool, and invited them out with 'the family' on our last night in town.
Dunedin was our next stop. We only stopped here as you have too on the bus pass we had. It was quite a cool place, a real uni-town, so lots of students and funky shops around. The hostel had a weird vibe, the woman who owned it seemed a bit psycho- shouting as us for no reason one minute and then being lovely the next! Weirdo.
We only stayed one night, and then headed off to Lake Tekapo. It was very picturesqe here, but also a bit weird. Our hostel was in the middle of know-weher, and Morwenna likes to make up hostel-horror stories just to freak us out a bit, although she scares herself the most!
Finally, the next day we arrived in Christchurch. We were stayin in a hostel just out of town. The road we had to walk along to get back was a bit dodgy, but we didnt go out at night that much. The city had a cool vibe, with little markets and squares with different street entertainers. We were there on a weekend, so it was cool to interact with the locals at the markets and stuff. The weather was amazing, hottest day of there summer apparently, pretty lucky!
Today Jon and I left Christchurch at 8.30 by plane. We stopped at Wellington and then got another plane to Auckland! Definately the shortest flights ive ever been on, as soon as we got up in the air, we were already coming down!! haha.
So, just 2 more days here and then jetting off to the sun...hopefully. I checked the weather and apparently its raining....oh well.
