So as Ive been in Australia the last few weeks I have decided its now time to start writing up my blog!! Sorry for the wait guys..ive been a busy bee!!
The start of my Australian Adventure...after all of those sleepless nights..the panicking for months about leaving my job, and my lovely friends and family..its finally hit home. Im in bloody Australia!
The last two nights in the UK were spent ensuring that I had seen as many people as possible to say my farewells and packed all my essentials. My last night in England was spent with my family and the wonderful Miss Gemma Bettis..I was still pottering round my cluttered bedroom at 3.40am, even though having to wake at 4.00am! I dragged myself out of bed, and started preparing myself and making the finishing touches to that awful backpack lol, taking out those last minute tops Id packed which-lets face it, just make me look even more like a demented snail with a house wayyyy to big for me to handle. We got into the car and started heading towards Heathrow, with a car of people that mean the world to me. Only the five of us could fit, but it was a very nerve wracking journey, but at this point it still hadnt quite sunk in. I just remember worrying about how I was going to carry that bag on my back!! We made it into the terminal..suprised because minutes before I had managed to crack my head on the boot with nerves and impatience and excitement all intwined.. I waited until I saw the almighty famous 'Bloomy'.
In Shayne walked with his mummy..we had a quick nervous cuddle and some last minute pictures, we walked over to check ourselves in for this amazing journey. While we were checking in..claim to fame as we turn round to see Micky from Eastenders standing next to us checking in at the same time. We wandered upstairs..a little closer to the unknown. Jen-Shaynes mummy started feelin the emotion of her eldest baby leaving her. The pair were cuddling lots which was adorable but it was also sending shivers down my spine as I knew my time was next. I was going to have to say goodbye any minute. Well to some it up as I dont want to re-live the moment right now, i said my goodbyes, had huge cuddles and mahoosive cries and we walked closer to the security clearance..even after finding many excuses to faff about and stay longer, like 'ooooh lets go get another drink!' or 'oooh lets go get some money out!' lol it only gained about 20seconds which felt even quicker than that! It was time. The tears were flowing and we wandered through the security and into the other side.
We went over to the internet to check our travel insurance was all sorted, while some drunken Auzzie was waiting to board probably the same aircraft as us..but he had clearly consumed way to many beers as he was shoutin his opinion on various political issues..while Shayne and I just had blank expressions wondering just what exactly we had let ourselves in for lol.
After grabbing a baguel, i started questioning myself about how i was feeling..(still boo-ing it of course) Was I sad/excited/nervous/scared/questioning.....oh wow now Im angry at questioning this! ...lol sooo many emotions!
We proceeded onto the glorious beast that is the A380 Singapore Airlines luxury jet. This plane was immense! we wandered through..gob smacked at first class, seated accross the aisle..Shayne and I made these seats our new home for the next half a day (as we have plenty of practice at this) ..when we had a gentleman offer us some different seats. oh NO he didnt...we stood our ground. Until of course we realised that he had 4 empty seats right at the back of the aircraft...ohhh the legroom..the laying space, the extra pillows and blankets...mmm, we were up before you could say BRACE BRACE.
We got all cosey and ready for departure. Now...you would think that this is the time Shayne and I would be paying attention as we all know..even though the frequent fliers like us think they are experts...all safety info is different of course...so we grabbed our cameras and started snapping away giggelling as loud as ever. You would think people would be growling at us..but no suprisingly I think people thought Shayne and I were on an excitable honeymoon trip..cringe! lol. (As much as I love you Shayne..im sure u feel the same! )
As we gained speed on that runway, I clutched Shaynes hand as tight as I could as we both realised there is now actually no going back! Wait a minute...this plane was even more amazing! We had taken off..and pure silence. Oh wow, luxury!! Comfy, quiet..just pwerfect!
Headsets donned..Shayne and I munched our way thorugh boredom, guzzled all the cocktails on the menu and snoozed until we reached Singapore. We grabbed a drink in the departure lounge..walked round like zombies and sat waiting for the next call to the aircraft. We boarded..this time seated apart, but as we felt so shattered it was probably a good thing as we snoozed most of the way. This flight was painful..we arrived!!!
We grabbed our bags..moody and aggitated, then head to passport control where a friendly man told us that we looked like we had had alot of action...well-our passports anyway. Bags in hand..and on back..and on trolley-(we had alot of bags okay!!) we met Marc at arrivals. We arrived at our new home for the next however long and walked up the stairs where Hannah was waiting to greet us. I gave her a big cuddle and thanked her for the help of giving me a place to stay until my next departure!
We sat chatting until the early hours until we took ourselves to bed for the next morning...the start of our adventures in Sydney!! xx
