Thursday was a long day from start to finish but well worth it! We started our Pinnacle Day Tour at 8am, where we jumped onto a Pinnacle Tour coach, just in time before the driver set off, it was a close call, as we had hit some Perth City traffic on the way... you know all those poor people off to work The first stop was to the " " and it was fabulous! I loved every minute of it being able to get up close to the animals there. The first stop was to stroke the Koalas! The Ozzy Zoo Keeper explained that we must stroke the Koalas with ONLY the back of our hand on the Koalas Back as they can be aggressive... but there is always one isnt there?! Nope not me or Joe... one of the ladies on our tour bus decided to POKE the Koala, yes POKE it! Poor Koala, anyway after a "laser beam" eyeball look from Lissy and a blunt "NO!" from the Ozzy Keeper, she quickly learnt that you dont poke animals! HeheNext we went to have our picture taken with a Wallaby... well to me, not a Wallaby, but a grey haired fat pig thing! lol It was quite bizarre but we actually loved posing with the thing! After this we got to feed the Kangaroos with the little Joeys, chilling in the sun! At first we got the impression that the Kangas had been "over fed" that day as not one of the Skippys fancied some Dry Pellet things... thinking about it, maybe it was the choice of food up for offer?! Anyway... We managed to find a biggy and he loved munching from both Joes hand and mine... then i found a friend! A little Girlie Kangaroo on her own, all small and dainty like a "Kylie" Kangaroo, so I thought im feeding this girlie up! Check out the photo in the Pinnacles Album, me and Kylie sharing Centre stage, at last! Next stop... the Pinnacles! Although, they did creep my out a bit at first, as they looked like some sort of Alien experiment thing, all these Pinnacles in one small section, of a vast open area AND normally rocks don't have faces and shapes in them, you would think it cant be explained BUT Joe did explain to me, in detail, how they formed and how they ended up here above ground level, very interesting, but my idea was much more exciting I think :)After snap shots of Ghost Faces in Rocks, we headed out for, what I think, was the most exciting part of the trip! The Sand Dunes. This part would be, to much excitement, me and Joe and others in a 4WD coach going up and down Sand Dunes! Lets go off road! We swapped coaches, from the standard to the 4WD and the next bit... well, Great fun! The driver took us up over Sand Dunes, at speed, bumping us around all over and then dropping us down the sand dune on the other side. The only way to explain this "ride" was like being on a roller coaster, but better! We gradually started heading up bigger Sand Dunes and coming to the edge of it and then dropping off the other side, well scary but fab! It was funny though, I don't know what it is about Women but we were all going "Oooooooooooooooooo" "OMG!" and other catch fraises all at once, where as the men didn't even batter an eye lid... tough men don't get scared! ;)After "hanging" down a sand dune, when the driver decided it would be a great laugh to hit the break when falling down one, the ladies yet again "Oh My God!" we headed back to the beginning where we take part in Sand Surfing!!!
There are no words to describe the Sand Surfing, it was great fun! I decided I was going up first, before Joe lol. Now trying to get to the top of the Sand Dune was the hardest bit, although I was knackered from trying to run up sand, that kept moving and the wind was blowing sand into my mouth, ears and other crevices, I was full of enthusiasm! On the Sand Surfing board i sat, breathing deeply (not sure if it was adrenaline pumping or me being terribly un fit from the run up!) then I Pushed Off! To be honest i went down so fast, had a bit of a wobble on, but i didnt do too badly, i reckon... i mean i stayed on it all the way down, unlike the lady behind me! Without sounding mean she was hilarious, she came off the board and went down on her arse, with the board next to her... the board got a free ride that time!
Joe ran up and went down, loved it so much, he got another cheeky one in and went running up again... he was like a kid "again, again!" The thing is, his legs are that long it was only about 5 steps for him to make it up the hill and about 5 billion for me and my short legs! :) We both decided that when back in England we would like to try Snow Boarding, although we have both come to the decision that you'd need skill to stand up on a snow board and not just jammily go down on your bottom on one!
