Hope you all had a nice New Years Day! It was very chilled and relaxed for us, not going into detail as I don't want to bore you, but yes, sun bathing on Manly Beach was very Nice
Friday/Saturday
@ 2AM… read it properly now: 2AM, Saturday morning, me and Joe woken by our alarm clock… (YAWN!) Got ready and headed down to the Rocks, Sydney, for our Sunrise Climb of Sydney Harbour Bridge!WOW!The whole experience was amazing, ugly as hell boiler suits had to be worn, some sort of Tool Belt (yes tool belt, that made you look like a right tool, I have to say) head set, a Cyclops torch (i.e. head/miners torch, I just thought they made you look like you had a third eye in the middle of your forehead) and thank god me and Joe had read the instructions and worn rubber solded shoes, because I didn't fancy wearing their boots… yuk!I was of course the one that was picked out of the group to do the modeling, by our Guide… it could have only had been me, eh?How majorly embarrassing, I did blush but I enjoyed it, she had me doing the hula and everything LOL She kept calling me Lisa instead of Lissy, so when I corrected her, she just stuck to "My Hula Model" for the rest of the experience, which in fact I preferred J
Joe was a bit nervous about the height thing and I was just excited too be honest. We went though a little training program, were tested for Alcohol, signed a terms and conditions blah blah and then after being totally kitted out (everything weighed a fair bit) we were told that there were NO toilets until the experience had completed. Why is it when someone tells you, you cant use the loo, you need it eh? Lol Anyway the feeling passed because we were straight out climbing the Bridge by around 4.45am!
Our guide was lovely, funny and entertaining, when we were having our pictures done at the top of the bridge, she kept checking that my hair was in the right place for the photo… she said "OMG you hair is so blonde, now that's wonderful, give it a buff (which is what me and my sisters do all the time anyways when we are getting ready and pouting for a photo LOL), now smile, oh wonderful Joe, hold her in your arms, Fabulous!" She was so cheesy but so great! :)
We went up the bridge and saw the Sydney opera house first, Learnt all about the bridge and when it was made and found out that one of the workers fell into the cement whilst they were making the stones… which of course creeped everyone out.I loved that bit, not in a sick way, but it made it creepy seen as though we were climbing all around the tight frame, whilst it was still dark, with just our miner lights on! Great fun!Of course I was cruel and did the "DON'T LOOK DOWN!" thing to Joe, which of course he did, as all peeps do, when they are told not to do something, they just do it! Muwahhhhh hahah >:) (evil face)… yeah he didn't like that, whoopps :)
The views from the top were breath taking, they really were, although it was a cloudy morning, we still managed to catch the sunrise… it rose and rose and then rose a bit more straight under some cloud - which represented the rest of our day in Sydney (cloudy and grey) but if we hadn't have been up the bridge, that morning, we wouldn't have believed that the sun was ever out that day, so that was nice and refreshing!
Now the funniest thing started happening on the way back down on the opposite side of the bridge, the ol' legs there started shaking! They absolutely started freaking out, not only mine, Joes were and all the peeps in front. We started giggling and asking is this normal?!We found out that in total we had climbed around 1500 steps, on an empty stomach, adrenaline pumping and apparently the up and down motion of climbing the bridge does that to your legs.Thank goodness, it was normal. Thought I was a freaking out for a moment! When we got to the bottom we could buy our photos, which of course we did… they cost a fortune I might add, but you got a complimentary group photo anyway so I suppose that was good. We bought all the ones we had had taken on the bridge and few extra that our guide had taken of the views for us, as we weren't allowed to take anything up the bridge with us, especially not cameras… if that had dropped from a great height onto a car underneath… well what can you say… "Speed Camera?" Omg that was so bad, I'm sorry I take back the bad joke!
As soon as we got out Joe WANTED BACON so we found a little café in the centre that was open at 8am and had brekkie, yum!
