New Years Eve
It was New Years Eve and we had NO idea what we were going to do to celebrate it! J The preparation that had been going on in Sydney, since before we arrived, was immense and we had read allsorts of info about how all the key areas for seeing the fireworks would be first come first served, no alcohol, full from around 3pm in the afternoon etc etc.We had been in the Sydney Towers Buffet Restaurant the evening before and decided to just see how expensive it would be to be in the 360 Bar for the whole evening on New Years Eve!It was a bit of a nightmare to book, but because the tickets were so expensive they hadn't sold out, so we booked it! Omg it was so fantastic and I was so excited. The idea of being in the Sydney Tower for New Years Eve, unlimited drinks, Canapés, waiters, DJ, 360 degree views of Sydney… DEAD excited and it was all well worth it.Me and Joe got there about 6.30pm, went straight up to the top and there was only about 10 people in front of us, which meant we could choose our table for the views and everything. We sat in a big comfy booth, with a table light and before we had even parked our bums, a waiter appeared with our first glass of wine! Fabulous! The music was chilled out; we sat back and enjoyed watching the sunset. As soon as the sun was down Sydney was lit up and we could see everything.Food was brought round, all yummy, except its now official Lissy doesn't like Sushi… BARF!
The bridge was all on show, you could see camera flashes going off all over (which isn't surprising, the amount of people crammed into the spaces around the Opera house and the Park was unbelievable) it was nice to know there was only 70 of us in the tower with a max capacity of 150… J There was so much room and drink! The first set of fire works went off at around 9pm - mainly for the kids, but we enjoyed them all the same! Joe started telling me how much Fuse wire it had taken to get all these fire works to go off… very interesting ;) Zzzzzzzz Not only that but he started to sound like he had been watching too much of Channel TEN, whilst I was ill, because he started to reel off facts about the amount spent on fire works, the exact places they were and the amount of fuse wire used and where it was lol
From about 10pm until 1pm it was just a ball, we had drinks, food, music blaring, fireworks to watch and we got chatting to a couple next to use, who turned out to be all the way from, you'll never believe it… NOTTINGHAM J
Midnight was brill, we had the regular cheesy count down and then the fireworks lasted about 15minutes all across Sydney, North and South. Our DJ played the music to match the fireworks, so they were going off in tune J After midnight we stayed for more drinks and a boogie before the tower shut at 1pm.I was very nervous about heading out into the mayhem to try and get a bus home to North Sydney… miles from anywhere… but like everything else in Oz, compared to England, Public Transport was brilliant. We legged it down to the bus stop and within 5minutes of being there we were on a bus home, good job, because as the ladies know, the old feet there were starting to murder!
Hope you all had a fab night too!
