We went to go and see a football match on the night after we arrived, which was Flamengo vs Boa Vista. Bearing in mind neither of us like watching football really, it was so good! We got a minibus there with a few other English/European people that had arranged the tour with the same man, and it was quite cheap. It cost us around 15 pounds for a minibus there and back and then for the actual game too. The fans out here are so passionate which makes them mighty crazy and annoyed when something goes wrong in the game! People will just randomly stand up and shout out/protest about a decision that has been made. We saw some crazy people there - a couple of examples are this man who was about 80, who carried around a statue of God on his head and sang some song which apparently meant he was saying he was straight, whilst doing some thrusting towards us!! Then infront of us, there were a son and mum - the son would just randomly put his middle finger up and then look back at us..crazy! Then the mum had the biggest bum in the world!! Seriously.
Yesterday, we went to the Sugarloaf mountains, which are the ones in the picture. We decided to walk to them, which was a bad idea as we were sweating like pigs all the way there - very attractive! Anyway, when we got there, we had to get two cable cars up to the top, but could stop for as long as you want inbetween. It was so high up - our Mums would hate it!! The views were really amazing though - the photos dont do it justice at all. It was a little windy, but it was nice as it was still really humid. Even though the wind made us look crazy in the photos!!
Today, weve been to the Tijuca Forest. We had to get the metro and one bus there, which took about half hour in total. Luckily everyone here is really nice and whoever we asked would help us out - even though they dont really have any idea about what were trying to say!! The forest is free to view, which was a bargain, as the hostel were staying at charges about 30 pounds to go! We saw lots of waterfalls and lakes, which were beautiful, but again the photos dont do it justice! We were saying that it was so pretty but people at home would just think ahh its another tree again! Lol. We walked about 15,000 metres up and down (we think!) so our legs are now nice and sore, but were still off out dancing tonight with two girls that weve become quite friendly with in our hostel. Were heading to Lapa, for dinner and to a nightclub, which does everything apparently from electro to pop to salsa! Should be an interesting night but hopefully it wont rain!! We dont have a curfew either at our hostel so well make the most of it!
Were going to try and put photos up now but we cant find a USB thing (lol) so that should be interesting....keep a look out on facebook!
