After a varied sleep, including frequent visits from the camp dog who insisted on sleeping on Lis's feet, we were presented with yet another breakfast which Bill didn't eat. Despite coaxing from Lis it would seem that egg whites are still off the menu. Nay bother, it was quickly becoming evident that today's programme would be significantly less taxing when the hardcore Frenchies cracked their first Chang an hour into the trek! Respect comes in many forms.
We completed the trek with some white water rafting (a gentle amble down the river really) and bamboo rafting (would have been even more gentle if Bill hadn't insisted on sitting at the back so he could spend the next hour trying to tip us all off! - the Frenchie standing at the front navigating with a bamboo pole wasn't impressed). Lunch and three hours of volleyball so the travel agents wouldn't get suspicious of the day being so short plus a souvenir shot glass from Off our guide. He had spent his three hours diligently hacking at bamboo with a machete and cut himself a couple of times...I didn't have the heart to tell him we couldn't get it through Australian customs.
A pretty awful hour and a half tuk tuk back to Chiang Mai with 10 other people and we happily fell upon one of the nicer guesthouses to wash away the jungle dirt (better just mention we put our laundry in) and get a decent nights sleep. Erm some Chang first!
