After a four hour bus journey we were collected by jeeps to take us to Jojowar, a little village in the middle of nowhere! On the way everybody waved at us as they do not see such beauty on a day to day basis!!
As we were in a small village we were expecting to stay in a mud hut or something similar. We were therefore surprised when we were welcomed by a rajastani drummer as we entered the maharaja's (king) palace. We were given cold facecloths to wipe our sweaty brows which was very nice. We were shown to our rooms, ours was one of the best (photos to follow) with air con, huge bed, marble spiral staircase down to the bathroom. After lunch we went on a train safari through the Aravalli mountain range. We tried out our best hindi when surrounded by a group of schoolkids at the train station. We managed to tell them our names and ask their ages - not a bad start! We then headed back to the hotel in the jeep (with a coffee and biscuit stop off at a mountain rangers hut), Lisa then jumped into the hotel swimming pool to cool down whilst Ed just lounged about (nothing new there).
It was a shame that we only stayed there one night as we were getting used to the luxury, and we were told that our next accommodation would be a stark contrast.
