Got the bus from Pushkar to our hotel, Diggi Palace. The hotel was 1km out of the main part of the city, all set around a large lawn and a bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Lisa went with the rest of the girls in the group to a couple of vocational schools for street kids. The children either go to school or learn a vocation such as jewellery making. Most of them had run away from home as they were being abused, some had been orphaned. They were just excited to see us and happy to talk to us and show what they had made. You can have a look at the website http://www.i-indiaonline.com/prog_ladli.htm for more info. Ed went with the other guys in the group to the City Palace and the Observatory (which had big sun dial sculptures and things). They then went back to the hotel and relaxed in the garden with a refreshing beer!
In the evening we all went to the Raj Mandir cinema to see a Bollywood movie. The cinema was an art deco building which was pretty impressive. Shame we couldn't understand all the film as it was in hindi with no subtitles but the plot was pretty basic!
Jaipur seems the most 'normal' place we've been to ..... apart from all the cows on the street!

Today we went to the Amber Fort - had a guided tour around which again was pretty impressive. The journey back was another interesting one - Lisa's autorickshaw ran out of petrol - she had to drink her water so the driver could use it to run to the petrol station for more petrol! One of the other rickshaws wheel fell off, and another had a flat tyre! Ed's rickshaw was absolutely fine.
We found out that England were playing India at cricket in Jaipur that day. Being such great cricket fanatics we thought we might try and get in for a bit. After circling the stadium for a while we gave up as they were not selling any more tickets.
Later we went to a restaurant with more local musicians and dancers - Ed made a few friends (photos to follow!) and we briefly visited a turban museum.
