Arrived in Xian at 7am and got a bus to the hotel. After a quick shower we headed out on an orientation walk of the city. We then had a hearty breakfast before a bicycle ride on the city walls. They are the only complete city walls in China so we did a full circuit of the city (about 14km) and had lots of races! It was interesting to see the old side of the walls with old buildings compared to the other side which is full of high rises. Afterwards we went for a walk along 'Culture Street' where they sell lots of jade jewellery and tacky souvenirs (we didn't buy any although we were tempted by a terracotta warrior until we realised how naff they are!).
In the evening we went to a karaoke bar..... can you believe it! It was a proper professional one where it was just us in the room with a bottle of vodka and a microphone. Lisa stunned everyone with her rendition of Robbie William's 'Let me entertain you'!

This was Terracotta Warrior day! We got the bus to the site and spent a few hours there on a guided tour. The warriors were unearthed in 1974 by some farmers digging a well, it is thought that they are over 2000 years old. There are thousands of warriors, all except one were broken and have been put back together by archaeologists..... not a job we'd fancy! Despite our previous statement about the tacky miniature warriors we succumbed and bought some for our mantlepieces! In the evening we went for a dumpling banquet - dumplings with lots of different fillings and even some shaped like ducks.....ahhh. They were very tasty and we were stuffed by the end of the meal.
