First of all, now that I'm uploading this I'm in an extreme hurry because it is already raining and we are afraid that we are not able to cross to Dhadim anymore. Because there are some galleys and when it is raining we slip there and then we land into the galley or we are stuck and both of them are not really nice. So I hope it is not yet raining there and we are able to cross, otherwise we have walk from Haro Bake (a bit more than 1 and a half hour) or we have to sleep in Yabello.
The whole morning of the Monday until somewhere in the afternoon I waited for Boniface. He wanted to purchase something small, but he couldn't find it so it took him a long time. Because both of the Laptops were in his room and I had no key for that, I read. As he came back, we went out again, but in the evening we had to be back, because the Meeting of the Priests of Boniface's congregation started. That was by the way the reason why we didn't leave on Sunday back to Dhadim.
On the 9th of April the Priests had meeting the whole day. I slept quite long but not really good. Sometime in the morning I walked all by myself to the supermarket, about 5 min walking and back. After Lunch I worked some things on the computer and went then to the Photoshop. The first one I knew couldn't do what I wanted, so I had to find another one. They said that I had to come back after two hours, so that's what I did. It was quite funny with the paying, because they wanted me to pay immediately, but I didn't want to pay everything before I see the work, so in the end after a lot of talking, I about 2/3 immediately and the rest as I came back to collect the pictures. They did a nice job.
In the middle of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday we started driving to Dhadim. It was 3 o'clock in the morning as the car started; we picked someone on the way in Addis up who would stay with us for a while and repair all the solar and light things in the houses. I slept until Awassa. There we stopped shortly to deliver something and to get some fuel. The second stop was in Morocho, just right after Awassa to get our cook. We had to wait for her quite a long time, but as she came we drove the last 6 hours straight to Dhadim without stopping anywhere.
As we arrived in the afternoon, there was a big surprise waiting for us. While we were in Addis, there was a lot of rainfall and a big flat, which made the water enter in our house. So the first thing we did was cleaning the house. Luckily it was just the entrance room and the living room. Also Abba Anthony's room, but that one I don't know how it looked like.
It was Thursday morning the 11th of April and I went to the kindergarten again. While playing with the kids I somehow hurt my food, so I stayed lying in the house the rest of the day.
The next morning at a quarter to five I woke up and I felt extremely bad, my stomach was hurting, I felt ill and I had diarrhea. So I went to see Sr. Annie and slept the whole morning. In the afternoon I felt already way better, but that day I only ate rice and later some rice with tomato sauce and I had to drink some water, in which the rice was cook.
On the 13th of April I read most of the time, because I was still not ready to do much more. Sometimes in the afternoon it started raining, so much that there were rivers and streams and through the middle of the village there was a huge river. The water came in waves the whole time. It was really nice to see and a lot of kids joined me in watching the water.
There was Mass in the morning like always on Sundays, but there were not so many people attending, because a lot of them went to Haro Bake to the market, especially a lot of Hostel students. And a lot of people had to shift to a higher place, ordered from the government. They say that there are too much people in this area and I think especially the ones with cattle had to shift because they want to have the grass and plants here for another time.
The next morning in the kindergarten was fine, after the break we went with the kids to see a movie in the TV room, they really like that. That's the only place where they can watch TV.
In the afternoon I did some things on the Computer and went out to play with some kids, so nothing special happened.
On the 16th of April in the Kindergarten some more things happened. It was Tuesday and we decided to go out on the football field to play there with the children. We had to send 3 kids home that day. We send them home sometimes when they behave badly. One of the kids, he his partly paralysed, started hitting another girl because she had her book and he wanted hers instead of his. Or at least that was what I understood. That was still during class.
As we were on the field, two girls suddenly started fighting, hitting each other and screaming, so I sent them home immediately, because that's something which is not at all allowed.
The kids don't like going home by the way because they really like the kindergarten and they also get a free meal a day.
In the afternoon I went to play with some kids.
In the morning I took 10 children apart to teach them the alphabet and the numbers from 1 to 50, because they don't know it yet. The other kids do know these things already.
In the afternoon I played soccer with some kids. There is a small child in the village, he is still afraid of me, but he is also afraid of the sisters and Abba Boniface, but he already accepts me to sit next to him.
On the 18th of April, that was a Thursday, we played a game called Journey to Jerusalem with the children. It was really funny and there was one girl called Galmo who won the game.
In the afternoon I played soccer on the big field again and I played some games on the computer, but I went to bed at around 10 because I was just too tired. By the way, today it is Abba Anthony's Birthday, so I wrote him a message.
On Friday we went to the church at 9 o'clock with the Kindergarten, because Abba Boniface taught them some things.
After break there was normal Kindergarten again. During break I took a girl to the clinic to check on something because some parts of her neck were swollen. Sr. Shirley said that it is most probably TB (Tuberculoses), so we told her to come in the afternoon back with her mother, bat she never came until this day with her mother.
At 3 o'clock in the afternoon we had "the way of the cross", but this time we walked through the village and sang some songs and prayed. At the end of the route there was a wooden cross and as we walked back we stopped several times at marked points to pray and to hear the story of Jesus.
As it was finished, the kids asked me for the ball, which is by the way already broken because some thorns entered. After most of the kids went I played quite a long time with a boy called Darara. He is a kid of the kindergarten, but he is the smallest one and will remain another year in the kindergarten while most of the other kids go to school.

Heel Nederland was oranje! Groetjes, Marlies
Groeten! Marlies
