I slept quite long and after waking up and taking a cold shower, I read a bit, wrote a bit and watch a movie. Sometime in the afternoon I went out to play with the kids. Around 5 o'clock was Mass, because Boniface went in the morning to the Haro Bake church and was not on time back for Mass in Dhadim.
The next morning was Mass again, like always on Sundays. I read and I cooked something. At 3 o'clock we walked to the new village. The people's houses are now further above; the people have to shift from the government because they are talking about overpopulation. So the really rich people had to shift near the Gucci-border, the middleclass just in the new village on the hill and only the really poor one, which do not have anything are allowed to stay in Dhadim. I heard that the real reason for these shifting, especially the ones near the border are because they are afraid that the Gucci could come.
We went up there to greet the people and to see their new houses.
In the Kindergarten on Monday I gave some extra lessons for the ones who still don't know the Alphabet and the numbers from 1-50. In the afternoon I read again and watched a movie. Evenings I cooked a bit.
On the 23th of April was Kindergarten in the morning. Afternoons I went to play soccer with the kids and even Abba Boniface came in his soccer dress and with a new ball to play with us. In the beginning, there were not much children but like always, they are coming as soon as they see the ball. It was quite funny.
Two sisters from India arrived and so the whole week the sisters have some meetings and some programs, so I taught alone in the kindergarten for a while. It was somehow quite difficult because they were extremely noisy and it was just after break. But I managed somehow and after just half an hour they Sister Ancia came back.
Also on Thursday I taught the kids half an hour on my own. It went already better, also because I watched Sister Ancia how she is handling the kids. I saw that they are not totally quiet with her too, so that went better.
In the afternoon, I accompanied Boniface to the new village for Mass. We went to the village itself because there are some old people and one halfway lamed woman for whom it is difficult to come back to the church in Dhadim. For walking it takes about half an hour, but not for these people. Boniface blessed one Jerry can of water and with that we went through whole the village and to some other villages near to bless the new houses, the people and the new cattle places. We walked quite long and till we came back to the car and to the mission, it was already evening.
On Friday, the 26th of April, they started with the school farming. I taught once again half an hour again, for the last time.
In the afternoon, there was again the way of the cross for the last time. We walked again through the village, but this time to the opposite direction.
In the evening, just before I took my shower, it started raining heavily. After coming back to the father's house, Boniface wanted to go and see the flat, coming from the rainfall. So it was still raining as we went, the flat was huge and it was a real river, flowing across the village. But it was already too dark to take pictures and it was still raining, so I left my jacket in the house, because it wouldn't have helped to wear it. Once, I came stuck until my knees in the mud. We passed by a house from a woman who said she sat during the whole rainfall at the entrance with a piece of wood for preventing the water to enter in. After this adventure I went to take a shower again, because the water was red and I afterwards too.
On Saturday I went with Boniface to Haro Bake for Mass. The two Indian sisters and Sr. Shirley drove before us, because the Sisters went home. They got stuck at the last, most bad galley. This galley is extremely dangerous, because when you get stuck you might slide into it, and because it is quite deep, coming out is impossible without foreign help. But the car didn't fall into it yet and Boniface went to help and drove the car after at least half an hour safely out on the street.
Then we were able to pass too and to say Mass in Haro Bake. We went shortly to Yabello but because we were afraid of the rain we hurried back. In Dhadim I helped him with the Computer and went to play some soccer with the kids.
The 28th of April was Palm Sunday. We walked from the end of the village with blessed tree branches to the church, singing and Boniface was sitting on a donkey. In the church was quite normal Mass.
In the afternoon I lied in the sun with the people from the compound, played with some kids and washed some clothes.
In the evening we went to the clinic, because there was a woman who has diabetics and fell into Coma. She didn't eat anything the whole day, although she should eat three meals a day. She has quite a number of children who could bring her food but I think somehow also they look at diabetic as a big sickness. She got some injections and woke up after some sugar. She comes every morning to get free insulin but often doesn't eat and so comes in the evening again because she is fainting.
On Monday the 29th of April was the remember Mass for Abba Ton, who was a great missionary in Dhadim and died there. It was in the morning at around 9, so Sr. Ancia and I hurried to the kindergarten to get the kids. The whole school was there too, but these kids were noisy and a lot. Abba Dida, Abba Martin, Abba Iede and Kilimppe came just for that reason to Dhadim. Just directly after Mass, Abba Boniface drove to Awassa for Mass on the following day. I stayed most of the day in the house reading. In the evening I ate with the sisters, even one whole small Banana!!
In the morning of the last day of April was Kindergarten, but we sent the kids at around 10 o'clock to eat, because we went to the new village. Jirena, the cook in our Kindergarten lost her father and we went by the end of the burial to see her shortly. We just walked up and told her consolations, before we went back again. In the afternoon I was reading again and in the evening, Abba Boniface came back from Crismmass in Awassa.
