Well, you can all stop your moaning now (JT, Farrow, Stu and the Dad's) the next update of our travels is here.
Things here have slowed down a little and we are not packing in as many activities as before due to the inconvenience of having to get up for work 5 days a week. However, we are trying our hardest to do a thing (as Linz calls it) every weekend, although last weekend we just got drunk and sat on beach, shame. As for work things are going fine, although we have already started to count down the days till we get moving again. Linz has already experienced a couple of nights out with her work and is getting heavily involved with the Xmas party's. I can already envisage in the future, a fall asleep on the train incident and her ending up in Melbourne or is that Ipswich?!?!?!?
A couple of "things" we have done so far include a trip up the Sydney Tower and visit to Sydney Wildlife World. As you can see from the pictures the view from up the tower was amazing, especially the views over the harbour. The day we went was so clear you could see all the way to the blue mountains, which is one of planned expeditions in the future. Later on that day we visited the Sydney Wildlife World, in a bid to satisfy Linz's desire to see a Wombat and needless to say they had one of fat blighters and she was happy. The Wildlife World is a new attraction built in Darling Harbour and has loads of Aussie animals, although it didn't have any Kangaroos, so they those bad boys are next on our hit list.
One thing I need to mention is the cricket, man they have gone nutty over here for it. Literally every advert, TV programme, newspaper is full of it and they all have one thing in common they hate us English! The only thing I can compare it to is the build up to a footy world cup at home. They have even put up big screens all over Sydney and one is just outside my work, which is awesome as we get to sit in sun on lunch breaks and watch the cricket. Although there is one draw back to this as we have to put up with the way the England monkies are playing and trust me seeing it live is more painful then catching the result in the morning when you wake up.
That was it as sight seeing has been going recently, as we have just kinda been getting drunk instead. Think this has a lot to do with drowning our sorrows due to working and also because we have meet up with an ex Cheltenham bod, Twickers. Some of you nam people out there might recognise the name and if you do drop us a line and let us know some gossip about her, although I think we know a fair bit already!! Twicks has introduced us to the seedy underbelly of Bondi and we love it. She has introduced us to a few peeps, including Ryan the local superstar. Ryan plays gigs in the local bars and we were even there on the first paying gig, the only way is up! As for other destinations we have kinda made the Bondi Hotel our new home on Saturday nights, although i'm just hoping it doesn't become the new bull or otherwise I may kill myself! Best bit about this place is they show prem footy live, so every saturday about 2 (when concentrating is a problem) along comes a game, awesome! Twick's also introduced us to our first Aussie barbie, where the food was great and the drinks flowed. Check out the hat pictures to see how well the drinks flowed.
We have also turned into right beach bums and we love it. Every weekend we spend at least one day on the beach and over the last week we have even taken to going down for a swim after work at around 7ish. Linz has invested in a boogie board and is becoming a right surf chick, so much so that she stopped washing and combing her hair, well I guess there's no difference there then!
The other day we took a trek along the famous Bondi to Coggee coastal walk, now I know some of you may be cacking up as I have always said "I don't do walks", but this was actually quite cool. However the feeling of enjoyment disappered from our bodies as soon as we got home, as that day a certain Kazakhstan national had been prancing up and down Bondi Beach! Yes, you guessed it, Borat was right outside our house and we never knew. This coupled with the fact he was at the opera house the next day (outside where we work) and we never saw him, gutted us out for about a week. However we can now confirm that we have seen the film and I don't think I have ever laughed as much! I was even tempted to pull a "Benny at Ace Ventura" and clap at the end, but then thought no one is that sad!
As for everything else, we are just preparing for Ms Wolfes birthday on the 1st and getting excited about xmas. Linz even went out today and bought advent calendars, I hope the chocolate dosen't melt in the heat, sorry did I forget to mention it was hot over here, well it is!!!! He he, how's cold Britain??
Any way people gonna head now as its a school night and we gotta get up bright and early, yuk! Would be cool to hear from you all, so let us know what your up to and get some more message on that board as the banter is running dry.
Catch you later
Grant
