Greetings from Khao San Road!

This is just a quick one because I haven't really done anything yet! Flight was ok, I managed to get some sleep. I was sat next to a woman who was on her way home to Sydney & we got chatting & it turns out she used to live in Westfield! Small world eh? I got a bit lost in Bangkok airport, I wasn't paying attention & didn't know where my baggage claim was, then I qued up with a lot of foreigners to get a visa when I didn't really need one! I got there in the end though.

I met a couple in the airport called Sam & Anna who I shared a taxi with to Khao San. I got a feeling we were ripped off a bit but we were all too tired to argue with the taxi driver. It was chucking it down when we got off the plane but by the time we got to Khao San it was dry again & even though it was cloudy, it's still sooo hot.

I'm staying in a hostel called the Sawasdee Banglumpoo Inn because that's where Sam & Anna had pre-booked their accommodation. My room is very small but it has air con (which I don't use coz i get cold ha ha!), a fridge/mini bar, a hot shower & a double bed so it's quite nice really. I'm only staying the one night as it's a bit expensive for just me & I was quite looking forward to slumming it in cockroach infested digs! There's no point in travelling thousands of miles to look for the comforts of home right? - Doubt I'll be saying that in a few days!

I have done some exploring, it's so busy & loud! I had to hold myself back from going shopping - just the street stalls are amazing! I had some food in a bar & met this French guy called Miloosh (or something like that!). He was very paranoid that the waitresses were going to spike his drink - although he insists it's something that rarely happens around here (he says it's quite safe as people are so frightened of the police). I wasn't sure if he was all there to be honest so I moved on!

At the moment it's 9.05 & I'm just chilling in an internet cafe with a glass of Chang (local beer), they're pumping out Bob Marley, it's great! I'm going to go find Anna & Sam & maybe go sample the bars. Go & find some friends ha ha!

Oh also I bought a Thai sim card my new number is 0800490205 - don't ask me what you put in front of it, I'm still trying to work it out myself!
