Mukeu School
We visit Mukeu along with the other volunteers - Fridays is a day where all the volunteers go to one project together. Mukea is a school for mentally challenged learners and it's definitely an experience I won't forget - the kids all have many different personalities that stand out and I make friends easily with a beautiful girl called Janet. She teaches me how to weave and LOVES getting her photo taken!
We only stay here for about 3 hours but if I had the opportunity it would be great to visit the kids again.
Village Market
We head to the village market which is basically a big shopping centre with market stalls upstairs - bought LOTS of souvenirs!! It feels like I'm in America and the place is a bit like a Californian shopping mall except that you have to get scanned and our bags are checked upon entering.
In His Image
Joan, a lady from the States, started the Home in 2007. Her life is dedicated to making sure the abandoned babies are well looked after with lots of love and support.
Having only 2 staff looking after 9 (or more!) babies and toddlers it does help a lot having an extra pair of hands.
I'm going to stay an extra night now so I can see the little ones again!
Would love to take Nathan and Humphrey back home with me!
