After not washing our clothes for far too long we thought we better do something about it! so in the morning - without assessing the situation thoroughly - we got to work washing some essential items in the sink, squeezed them out and hung them to dry. After a shower in the evening i thought id be so happy to put on some clean underwear only to find they were just as wet as when id hung them up! Lin earned some bonus points by standing up holding each item infront of the heater for a few hours every day! Our second day wsa spent white water rafting. We met up with 2 lads from England; Mark and James who were going to be in our boat. After a 1/1/2 hour 8000 foot descent we found our captain and the boat. We headed down the 1st set of timid rapids and found a deeper part of the river. All of us including the captain jumped into the freezing cold river. After getting over the shock the drift down the steam was very relaxing, the scenary was awesome with steep rock faces shooting upto the sky. Got a little scared when we were all in the river and we could here the next set of rapids getting gradually louder! So we all were pulled back up into the boat and braced ourselves for the bigger rapids to come. Lin had to kneel at the fromt holding onto a rope and take all the splashing water full on from the ever increasing size of each set of rapids! whilst we sat just behind her rowing away. Once we got out we remembered we'd forgot any change of underwear, so we were comando all the way home! Cont. in next journal...
