This week has been, busy, Busy, BUSY.
It is half term around the world it seems and all the children are flooding our ski school gates to have lessons. We had an abundance of Mexican children and very little knowledge of Spanish so we struggled though the communication problems and did our best. It seems that it is not going to end any time soon either so I am expecting another hectic week of 'un momento' 'Si!' and 'PARADA!!!'.
Along with the place being busy we have also had 4 days of solid snow which was needed but also makes ski school that much harder since 3-4 year olds are not really strong enough to push through thick power and after 3 hours of getting snowed on and working hard they tend to get tired and upset as getting soaked through is not that fun after an hour or so. I had a very mixed week of children but they seemed to like me and even when they swapped teachers I had some of them still coming to me for help and lunch which their instructors obviously enjoyed as it meant less work for them. But I didn't mind since it shows that they enjoyed working with me. I had one day of three Spanish children which was a bit hard but good for them as they could talk to each other. Oddly though the hardest day was when I had a full class of 5 English speaking children. I had a 3 year old girl who decided to run outside and play in the snow and when I told her not to do it again she rolled her eyes at me?? Three year olds now do eye rolling :( I don't know where she learnt it but she was not the nicest of girls. I also had a little boy who lived in his head and I think must have had something like ADHD as he could not stay still.
We also had a minor puppet disaster where Shortbread my little blue puppet fell out of my ski jacket pocket. I ended up running all the way back to work to try and find him when I realised but I couldn't, and I asked the lift workers encase he fell out in the gondola but I had no luck there either. The next day I asked again and at the end I was told to try the sign in office and someone had handed him into the lost and found in there. So now Shortbread is taking a break from ski school until it gets less busy.
Other than ski school not much has been happening, there is going to be a group cinema session on Tuesday for ski school which will be good, it is free as well and they are getting us discounted food/drink also. So everyone has their names put down for that which will be a good group night out. Hopefully Karaoke will start again this week as well so we might be able to go to that before the cinema if Karaoke Mike is back to his role as the DJ.
Today I also got out my camcorder and recorded around Whistler so when I get back I will be able to put it together and show you all what Whistler looks like when it has snowed. Hopefully I can take the camcorder out and film some skiing as well some point next week.
Finally I booked my return flight back to the UK. I will be leaving here on the 20th June and will be back in London on the 21st at 2:05pm if everything runs on time. Now it is time to get down to business and really start planning my touring :)
That's all folks! x
