Sorry about no blogs - we have had very dodgy or no Internet. Here us a quick rundown:
Monday - went to Space Centre Houston. It was disappointing & we were glad we had been to Kennedy Space Centre previously. Saw the current mission control with live feed from the International Space Station by didn't see the old 'Houston, we have a problem' mission control. Spent nearly all day there because things don't run all the time.
Tuesday - drive to San Antonio. Went to the Alamo first up. Very important to the history of Texas & America. Spent afternoon & evening at the Riverwalk. The river is lined with shops, hotels & restaurants. We went on a 30min cruise on the river which was pleasant. Had dinner by the riverside.
Wednesday - went on the hop on hop off bus around San Antonio. Didn't live up to experiences in other cities where there is a live guide. It was just a pre recorded blurb. Buses are supposed to come every 30mins but were only coming hourly that day. It would have been good if we had been told that. We were really looking forward to going to the Mexican markets are reading the brochure but they were a huge disappointment. Every shop had the same tacky things. Went to La Villita which is a historic part of the town. Small area with art galleries & shops. There were some very nice things here & some of the art works were very cheap. Would loved to have been able to bring some home. Spent afternoon & evening by the river having ice cream & margaritas.
Thursday - stopped by a mall with the worlds largest pair of cowboy boots out front on the way to the airport. Flew to LA. Flight was good but paid $230 for checked bags & overweight baggage. Outrageous. Plane was only 3/4 full. Picked up convertible & drove to West Hollywood to check in. After doing some washing we headed out to Anaheim to Downtown Disney. We visited the Lego store & the Disney Store before finally sitting down to dinner at 10pm.
We have paid a half day room fee to keep our room until 6pm on Saturday. That way we can have a shower before going to the airport.
It is 1am & time for me to sleep.
