The next day we visited another traditional village and were given a Kava ceremony by the chief and taught how to weave bracelets by the women. Everyone then went off for river rafting but I wasn't allowed because of my infected legs so had to sit on the coach while everyone else rafted off down the river and played volleyball
We arrived at the hostel just after a storm had apparently blown through the entire complex. There was still a slight wind but no real damage. We had dinner, played a few bar games and had another bonfire. Some of us went back to the rooms around 12.30 and thank god because as soon as we were back in the room, the storm started up again. The rain was unbelievable and the wind blowing everything around outside. All the others were stuck down the beach for ages and had to run all the way back. The sight of them! Hehe - jammy!
On our last day we drove back towards Nadi, stopped for lunch at an awful Indian restauarant and the local shops to buy gifts fot the orphanage we were visiting that afternoon. We were told to buy toothpaste or soap but as it was xmas and they must get heaps of tioletries from all the other buses we voted to buy them toys instead. We weren't told we were visiting a different orphanage to that in the book so we bought for the age group listed (0-12) only to turn up at the 13-18yr boys orphanage. I was so annoyed as we were rushed in, given a quick talk on how things worked, told to have a look around the boys rooms if we wanted (!) and then rushed out because most boys were home for xmas so there "wasn't much to do" there. Not only are the boys there the ones that have no one to visit at xmas but I was expecting to go for a few hours, interact with them etc and it felt like we just went to look at them, their rooms and leave. I was so angry I filled out a comment card straight away.
Afterwards we went to the mud pools which are apparently good for your skin and hair so we slathered ourselves in hot mud (pharmacist approved for my bites!) and then washed it all off in a natural hot spring pool which was like having a hot bath. All us girls didn't want to get out as we've been bath deprived for so long!! So nice! And skin like a babys bum!
Mozzie bite update:
Mum wasn't given any information from NHS direct as I was out of the country (!!) so I was dropped off at a pharmacist who told me they were getting infected, gave me antibiotics and decent insect repellant! Each bite I had was now blistering so hopefully I wont get anymore!
