On the bus from the Copacabana i made a few friends so when we got into La Paz we grabbed a taxi together to a hostel. After checking in we all decided we would sign up to Mountain bike the world most dangerous road as we had all heard about it. So straight away we all headed down to their office and got sized up for helmets ect. That night we went to a restaurant for a meal and drink(obviously). While waiting for our meal we tried out the oxygen bar upstairs, was interesting but to be honest i didn't notice any clarity added to my day after that. Anyway after the meal we got the bill and for the first time i was amazed by the cost as we were in a nice restaurant. It basically cost 10 quid for meals drink and deserts for the three of us. The next morning we headed of down to the cafe where we were meeting our bike thing. We grabbed breakfast and jumped on a bus. It was a long way to drive so we got comfortable. Once there we got our kit and bikes and our safety and technique talk. After that the guy handed round some sorta what i can only describe as poison that we had to first pour on our bike then take a drink of. It was cleansing that all i can say. So of we set down the road, which it was a nice long not to windy road, this isn't bad i thought. After a few drug check points we stopped and were instructed that we will now head onto the bad road. That day was very misty... So of we went with a nice gap between us which quickly disappeared due to people that soon as they seen the cliff lost the ability to move. The mist may of helped as you couldn't see the bottom of the drop. But you could still certainly see all the crosses at the side of the track. As we carried on down there was a few parts of bad track. In one of the moments the person in front of me wasn't paying attention and there had been a small land slide and they were about to plough into the hole and probably die so obviously slammed on there breaks meaning the gap between us disappeared instantly. It was a very close call. There had been many people killed doing what we were doing but we were informed none of us were allowed to die today. So everything went fine and it was actually a very cool ride. Even though there was some killer up hills! After is was over we got a nice wee free t shirt and a copy of the days pictures. We all jumped back on the bus and the guy asked us if we had any problem driving back along the track/road so we did and bloody hell its was eventful, there was moments when you looked down out the window you couldn't see the track you just seen DROP. The next day i did some shopping and got a bus to the salt flats.
