Bit of a late start today 8.00 am which is alright because i can't get an all day tube pass til 9.30 anyway. Got ready book online tube ticket just cause i was bored.
Got on the tube at Kings cross at 10.00 booking on the net is a mistake, and heading to Westminster the starting point of my first walking tour on my IPOD (Royal Walk) Straight out of Westminster station you are confronted with Big Ben and Houses of Parliament which is the most intimidating and impressive sight. After snapping a few s***s of the clock tower and surroundings crossed the road to be met by the Thames which is really dirty and murky much like the swan river but bigger more trash ridden and green. Continuing on I made it to Westminster Abbey which is one of the most beautiful buildings i have ever seen. The abbey itself have magnificent architechual design considering its age.I didn't go inside because it was closed to the public til 11.00 for some bizzar reason and besides that i needed to head to Buckingham palace for the changing of the guards at 11.30.
I learnt from last time so picked up the pace and moved on to Buckingham palace. This place is huge (Rudd would be well jealous) at 11.30 sat on the wall and watched the changing of the guard which is actually quite funny cause its really hot here and you can see sweat rings on some of them. The precession lasted til about 12.10.
Then I took a wrong turn NOT SUCH A BIG MISTAKE and got lost coming out of the palace gardens and ended up seeing the Commonwealth game gardens and adminality arch. Turned around and headed back to the palace found the right way out and headed to where Charles, Henry and William live (were on a first name basis now) and its not to impressive but still far better than my hotel (St James Palace)
After that hit Piccadilly arcade, so many shops thank god i left the credit card at the hotel. Stopped in a malt wiskey and cigar shop smelled so good and looked at scotch that is older than me.
Time for lunch and i stopped into this wicked cafe' in Piccadilly its Italian and the staff are really nice even with thier minimal english skills. Ordered a Turkey and Cheese focaccia and mixed berry smoothie (See im being Healthy) Then this fat old English lady can in and was winging (give the poms a bad rap about winging its true) about the size of her cappacino. My customer service side of the brain kicked and I was about to slap her across the face and tell her to get the f*** out, but i resisted.
Next to Piccadilly circus where to my avail there is no circus. In the squar snapped a picture of Eros while trying to dodge traffic these are the busiest streets ive seen in my life. Next heading to Trafalga Square and the national gllary this area looks incomplete with all the construction going on. National gallery is nothing exiting and the portrait gallery has weird compositions of famous people half of them i don't get the interpretaion.
Back to Westminster station and on the Tube to Waterloo, and guess who i run into on Westminster bridge. SARAH!! haha. out of the millions of people and the thousands of miles of city we walk straight into each other. Got a quick snap together and catch up til we went our seperate ways. From Waterloo station saw the London Eye but didn't go on it as the queue was huge. No big loss. Continued along the Thames down South walk and the buskers here are amazing kinda got some footage of a guy that could balance a basketball and two evain bottles on a drumstick while holding the drumstick in his mouth. Impressive. Spent 10 pounds in total to various buskers and spent time watching them all. As I went further down saw the Tate Modern Art Galery and various other small time sights. Hit a few pubs and sunk my first Pint in the Uk. (Can't believe it has taken this long.)
That brings me to now. Again Hope all is well.
Tomorrow Stonehenge, Bath, and Salisbury Yeow
Post again soon, Laterz all.
