Day 5.We went back to Sydney Harbour to watch the Easter circus festival called Hoopla. I love the circus so I was pretty excited about it. Unfortunatley the weather wasn?t the best again with on off rain, but the street performers we saw were really good. After the circus we caught the free ferry (on our weeks travel card) across the harbour, hoping to catch the opera house during a break in the rain?.again no luck - it pissed it down! Instead we stopped off at Lunar Park which is an old fairground, so the day was a pretty immature one so far with two 24 year olds going the circus and fun fair. When we got back to the hostel we cracked open a box of wine in preparation for the night out. We got talking to a few people in the TV room and 2 Danish girls asked to join us on the night out.. It was pretty low key as me and Duncan couldn?t get into the bar we had in mind due to being ?too casually dressed? (we had jeans and V-neck jumpers on, that?s how posh it was!). So we went to a few local bars and got pretty hammered.Day 6.We didn?t feel too fresh after the night before but in our drunken state the previous night we agreed to go on some walk they?d discovered to the Harbour. Apparently you could get amazing pictures and that?s the logic behind agreeing, so we were woken up by a bang on the door at 10am, urrgh. The weather was really nice for a change and we got the pictures of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge we?d been hunting our whole stay. After a walk around the city we headed back to the hostel to get ready for yet another night out as we still hadn?t been to any of the really good bars - just the backpacker ones. The 2 Danish girls were actually starting to get pretty annoying and wouldn?t leave us alone but we didn?t have the heart to say they were banned from coming with us after they invited themselves. Before we left I met up with Ross outside the hostel, who I know from the Thistle and Shamrock. He is working in Sydney at the mo, so we had a bit of a chat and he mentioned some places he might be later for meeting up.The bar we intended to go to was on Oxford Street, which is the big gay area, but its popular with travelers and cheap. From there we planned to go to a big nightclub called Chinese Laundry that we had heard a lot of good things about. We tried to meet up with Ross in a bar in Oxford Street and it was the campest bar I have ever been in, and I have innocently found myself in a few camp ones in my time somehow! He had moved on, but we saw a few topless barmen in dickie bows, leather sailor outfits - think little Britain, except everyone was dress like it! I had to literally drag Duncan out of there (jokes).Fortunately the Danes got the impression we wernt overjoyed about them tagging along and decided not to come to the club (mainly due to us watching the England vrs Australia cricket). We got a cab to the club but it was shut! However we saw loadsa people outside another club - it was Serb night! Serbs and Macedonians were the only nationalities allowed in apparently and they were all outside due to a bomb threat?..I did wonder why there wasn?t a blonde bird insight! We did consider trying to get in, but I wasn?t sure how that would go down if they asked for ID and saw Lee and Duncan instead of Goran and Ivan. A bit of a disater, but we went back to bar to continue watching cricket and drinking $10 jugs of snakebite.Day 7The past few days in Sydney were REALLY starting to take their toll and we had to get up at 10 and check out of the hostel. Felt proper grim but they let us sit in the tv room at least until we caught our bus to Melbourne. Originally we were going from Sydney to Cairns but everyone said how great Melborne was, so we?re taking a 12hr bus down there and that?s our new starting point.I played poker most of the day but the annoying Danish girls continued to hang around. I won my fare to Melbourne which I was happy with.We caught our bus at 7pm and it arrived in Melbourne at 7am. Duncs had a good kip but I got 3hrs. Long!
