Well today started at 5 with the chanting again. And it's even less dreamy three days running!!
We were meant to be picked up at 8 to see the lawyer and get all the land signed back over. Turns out that they tricked her into signing a totally blank sheet and then used her signature to get 4 pieces of land that included part of the one she lives on, and one that each of her parents gave her. We were ready but didn't find out till 10 that lawyer isn't working today!
So plan b was to sort my mum's bank account out, get her some money and buy some things to make this house more of a home. That's not easy here as a trip shopping is a bit harsh on the senses! Very loud and bright! But actually I love it! I had a chance to practice my Sri Lankan and on a couple of occasions they actually understood me.
My other cousin has been really helpful and there is a real sense of family duty and loyalty which is amazing to see. Looking back I can see that my own parents tried to raise my brothers and I like this but sadly it never happened and we can't stand each other now!
So tomorrow we bury the ashes in my dad's village. It was the last conversation I had with him so I'm really glad I've been able to do something for him ... I never normally did as we clashed so much.
It also means that instead of over nighting close to Adams peak as planned we now see the lawyer on Monday morning, then drive for 3 hours and start climbing Adams peak straight away to camp at the top till sunrise. Hoping to get there by midnight. It should be amazing , but there have been local floods so we might also get washed away.
I'm glad I've been able to come and sort my mum out. I think she feels happier about staying here. She'd lost a lot of confidence after my dad died but I think coming here and helping her make a home has helped. It is a shame I didn't come in oct as originally planned as perhaps my cousin wouldn't have had the same opportunity to scam her.
We cooked a meal here today. I'm not sure that even my dad has cooked here as everything looked unused or packed away.
Thomas and George as predicted have been great. What's lovely about coming away with them is that it is the only time they actually talk to each other without getting annoyed. They hang out and play cards and I tend to leave them to it as its rare to see them like this. I need to take them away more!
Anyway .... Tomorrows a big day with a 5am Buddhist alarm clock expected. So night night... Zzzzzz
