Well Hello everyone from warm and sunny New Delhi.... wow i'm a little exhausted and overwhelmed right now but i finally managed to find a computer that worked with working internet, so i figured i should update you all on what has been happening in my life the past week or so... so we left kolkata (which was lame, kolkata is great) and got on a train headed for Agra... the train was about 24 hours long which was incredibly long and at some points very miserable, especially when some huge family of like 30 people board the train at like 630 in the morning and the kids sing songs for the next two hours, including great Indian favorites such as "om shanti om" but oh well i geuss, only in india tho... after we persevered through that part of our journey we arrived in Agra at about midnight or so, and pretty much went straight to our hotel... the streets were barren at the time and we had 5 motor rickshaws drive us there, and they were literally racing through the dark streets of agra, it was crazy... i felt like i was in a video game haha going the wrong ways on round-a-bouts to try and get in the lead and such... once again only in india! the next morning we woke up and got breakfast on the rooftop of our hotel that over looked the taj mahal! it was unreal i couldn't believe i was sitting there eating french toast looking at the taj mahal... i was seriously waiting for like alladin to fly overhead on a magic carpet, it was all very movie like.... that day we did a lot of walking around and exploring and stuff like that including eating for the first time in india at a mcdonals, it was actually the first mcdonalds i had seen! it was delicious.... early the next morning we got up at the crack of dawn (oh yeah that night was miserable, i got sick for the first time in india... the brunt of it was that night, but i really haven't felt the greatest since.. the weird thing is we only at at restaurants all day, like nice touristy restaurants... and i've been eating off teh streets and stuff, go figure..) but ya we woke up early to go to the taj mahal to try and beat the crowd... it was awesome.... so cool that i got to see it in person! man it was cool, the only bummer is that it was pretty cloudy and foggy the day we went so my pictures aren't the greatest but it was still all very alladin like... oh and one more thing about agra, i rode an elephant... ya no big deal it was huge, one the bigger elephants i've ever seen, no joke... everyone says indian elephants aren't as big as african elephants, but man these guys we ginormous! well after that we loaded the train again for the last leg of our journey about a 3 hour ride to new delhi, in which we actually didn't have seats so had to get on and try and mark territory before others beat us to it, it was intense.... well we made it to new delhi, and this week has had a different flavor than most of the others that i've had in india... it has been alot more low key... we're actually staying at a house for prayer and stuff that is part of that whole 24-7 prayer movement thing and what not, its cool and we've been taking part in all that they do there which is really good, but its still different from what i was expecting and what not... yesterday some of us went to a hospital for people with TB which was sad, but really really good... i liked it a lot... we did a little skit for them and sang them songs which they all loved... its interesting standing in front of a large group of people all who have TB and some of who are dying yet they just love that you're there, and laugh and have a good time... it was very enjoyable.... where we're staying at is actually in a devoloping part of new delhi so it is actually decently nice, nicest neighborhood that i have seen so far in india... but its kind of a bummer that we're not more in the city, it makes it harder to go out and explore or just go hang out at a coffee shop or something... but oh well i geuss, can't always have your way... delhi and new delhi toegether are massively big and tehy're really trying to modernize it all and westernize it all, they even have freeways here (also a first for me) and surburbs are popping up and real estate is booming as the city spreads out.... well tommorow i lead some prayer time thing for about like 100 pastors convention here in northern india! wish me luck... ha should be interesting, but i'm sure it will go well, there are definately many needs here in india and so therefor a lot of things that need prayer for.... i probably wont' have time to respond to your emails because well i just won't have time, ha but know that i'm good... last week in india! weird, then back to NZ for two weeks, then home.... my next blog will be the last one from here so i hope that my time here and my blogs have been enjoyalbe for you all... hope all is well at home... see you in about 3 weeks? i think? much love
