Oh my goodness. Thats about all i can say right now. Its been about a day an a half since new years eve and i'm still thinking about it. It was the CRAZIEST thing i have ever seen or experienced. There is honestly no way for me to explain the night in kolkata, and do it justice, because it was so unlike any thing else i have ever experienced before. However, this isn't to say that it wasn't a little scary as well, being blonde haired and white skinned, made me a target (and others in our group, especially the girls) for thousands and thousands of Indians to be the first ones to wish us a happy new year... in other words apart from being pretty much mauled and having two people put their hands in my pockets trying to rip me off (two that i noticed at least) it was an amazing experience... one that i will definately not experience... we went down to park street which is like the "times square" of kolkata becuase we heard that that is wehre it all happens on new years eve, and they were not joking.... it was the craziest thing ever, people everywhere screaming yelling jumping dancing fireworks cars motorcylces people running around like mad men in traffic blocking off the road full of hundreds and hundreds of cars, oh my goodness it was crazy.... i took some videos of it to try and capture the moment but man, i just don't think it will do the trick.... but wow well with that said Happy New Years friends and family.... this is the first day i've been about to get to a computer since like last friday i believe, quite some time for me, and a lot has happened since... on saturday we hung out around the city and went to KFC for one of our girls birthdays, it was good fun.... then the next night all of the indian people that we stay with wanted us to make them a western or "american" meal so we took it upon ourselves to do the best job we could... we actually found beef (we can thank the Muslims of kolkata for that) and they ground it up for us right there in a huge and smelly and bloody meat market... then we managed to snag some bacon and cheese (i think you know where i'm going) and we bought potatoes, and made bacon cheeseburgers and fries... it was actually amazingly good i was extremely impressed with ourselves, we all loved it, well atleast our team... i couldn't really tell how the indians took the whole thing, but it was an experience for them thats for sure! the next night (new years eve) we ordered dominoes (so that makes 3 American meals in a row, totally weird, but awesome) and then went out to one of our favorite coffee shops then went down to park street.... but getting to more what we are doing this week, monday and tuesday we volunteered with the Mother Teresa House... it was amazing to be apart of that whole thing and to help out with work there... plus we were able to meet people from all over the world and find out a little bit of their story as well as share a little bit about ourselves, which was really fun, and interesting... things are going well here, we leave for Dehli tomorrow night... unbelievable, the last leg of our journey is here... soooo weird that we have been in Kolkata for about a month now, where the heck did the time go... its going to be sad leaving all the street kids, even though we haven't been working at the shelter as much lately we still try and hang out and help out as much as we can... its great to just be with them, and it will be sad to go... however, on saturday 2 guys from New Zealand flew in to help out, and they're really cool guys, so we're leaving them in good hands, well along with the amazing staff that is already in place... on the way to dehli which is about a 24 hour train ride (yuck) we're spending just under 2 days in Agra wehre the Taj Mahal is... ya thats right we're going to see "the taj"... what an awesome opportunity, i'm very excited... i actually think that when we get to dehli we'll be out of town ways, so i dunno how much i'll be able to write on this site, or respond to emails... so if is the last you hear from me in a while don't get to worried, i'll just see you all when i get home.... well i hope that Christmas break is going amazing for everyone! miss you all... with love from India and for the last time in Kolkata
