Friday we were collected at 10:00 for our 3 hour journey North to Pai, as soon as everyone was on the minibus the driver warned us of the drive, advising us of the 762 nautiating bends in the roads and confirming he wasn't joking by notifying us that one of his customers once had a heart attack which is always warming to the ears. The journey was very bendy but we made it and no one threw up! We checked into our hostel then headed out for some lunch before spending the rest of the day relaxing waiting for the boys to arrive. Sam and Jack decided to take the option to rent mopeds and drive to Pai themselves which Ben would have loved to do but there was no convincing Laura! The boys arrived around 20:00 so we headed out for dinner and a look around the night market before heading to bed.
Saturday we all headed out for breakfast around 10:30 and decided we would rent mopeds to get out and about to see what we wanted to see. We drove to a waterfall, on the way we stopped at a small stall which was advertising fruit drinks, we sat down and the owner quickly poured us some Roselle Juice which he makes at his farm and cut up lots of fruits which he grows for us to sample, as well as some sort of home brewed liquor which just tasted like wine, it was all so delicious and all he asked for was a donation towards his farm, as there was 5 of us and we gave a generous donation he gave each of us a passionfruit for later on. The waterfall was sort of in a cave so the water was very cold, that didn't stop the boys though so Laura quickly became the clothes and bags peg! We drove to Pai canyon which was very beautiful, Sam dropped his flip flop so ended up in the canyon retrieving it to the rest of our entertainment! After, we took a scenic drive home which was stunning, Pai really is beautiful as it is surrounded by very green mountains. Ben and Jack decided they needed a hair cut so off we went bravely to find a hairdressers, the lady was so funny, her English was not very good and she spent the whole time giggling at the boys being nervous which made them even more nervous as she had scissors in her hands!! We chilled out for the rest of the day before heading out for some dinner followed by drinks at the hostel bar, the owners of the hostel are only 25 & 23 so get mixed in with the guests encouraging a night out every night! We headed out to a few bars and had a really great night, on the walk home Laura and Ben adopted a dog and named him 'Pippin' he was very loyal and even waited for us as we went in the 7/11 for some drunken snacks!
Sunday we all went for breakfast at 11:00 before heading off on our mopeds again and heading to some hot springs. We had been warned of the road conditions towards the hot springs being told that lots of people skid there and the road was awful, just a dirt track which was very gravely and dusty with steep hills up and down so we took it very slow and Laura had to get off and walk the hills! The Hot Spring itself was amazing, the water was so clear and hot and it was 100% natural! The drive to and back (on the main roads) was as equally beautiful with more views of the mountainous landscape and it was very sunny. We returned our moped and strolled around the town before chilling at the hostel and packing our bags as tomorrow we are off to Bangkok!
