Wednesday, our ferry ride to PhiPhi was pleasant, beautiful looking at all the different Islands. We arrived at noon, found our check in office and were given a map of the island, the lady showed us where we were staying on the map which looked ages away however we were soon greeted by a man with a trolley who took our luggage and walked us to our accommodation which took barley 10 minutes, we learnt very quickly how small the island was. We dropped off our bags and went to explore, it started raining so we popped in a bar on the beach for a drink until it passed. Luckily Ben noticed a guy he played flip cup with in Krabi at the bar so we started chatting to Max and his friends, Musti, Chris and Sam and organised to meet them later for drinks. We chilled in our room and freshened up until the rain stopped then headed back to the bar around 19:00. We all got to know each other and swapped travelling stories, they are heading south and have come from Vietnam which they all loved, we were soon joined by Kate and Charlotte, they all knew each other from bumping into each other several times on their trip. Ben and Max organised for us to play flip cup which was very fun and to both Ben and Laura's surprise Laura was very good at it however played with spirits which made her very sick so Ben nursed Laura for the rest of the evening. Our nights sleep was very disturbed by the horrible sound of cats having sex outside our door.
Thursday we had a great lie in! We went out for food at about 12 then met the others on the beach for a day of relaxing! We sunbathed and went for a dip in the sea, something we both have needed for a while! Later we had showers then headed back out for drinks and we all decided to book a boat trip for the next day. We realised today that there is probably more cats on this island than humans and every single one got glared at by Ben. We have also nicknamed the stranger in the room above elephant man as he walks very heavy footed and makes us feel like we are in an earthquake.
Friday, we woke to the wonderful sounds of cat sex and elephant man throwing his guts up, Ben slept with earplugs and still heard the cats then asked me why elephant man was shouting so I had to tell him that walking isn't the only thing he does loudly. Ben woke up not feeling well and was quite sick, when he thought he felt better we hiked to the view point of the island which was stunning and you can really see how small the island is! However Ben continued to be sick so we headed back for him to rest. Laura managed to organise changing the boat trip for us to go tomorrow morning instead as Ben was not well enough to go this afternoon with everyone else. As soon as Laura joined Ben at the Guesthouse a big storm came over and it rained for about an hour so we didn't feel so bad being locked up indoors and missing the boat with the others. Laura saved half her sandwich in the hope Ben would eat something but next thing she knew a geko was tucking into it... In our room! The geko is now under the bed. When Ben felt well enough in the evening we headed out for some dinner then went straight back to bed... But where is the geko?? Haven't heard the cats all day so maybe someone's killed them!?
Saturday we were up earlier to catch our boat trip. Ben was feeling better but Laura was feeling a bit squiffy. Our trip started at 9:30 with complimentary breakfast, Ben tucked into curry for breakfast! Laura stuck to bread and jam. We set off in a traditional wooden long boat, it took us to monkey island where the boats pulled up and you could watch the monkeys jump across the trees, after we went to Maya Bay where the film 'The Beach' with Leonardo Decaprio was filmed, it was stunning but unfortunately there was way too many tourists there to take in its full beauty. We sailed to a spot where we could snorkel, the guide threw in bread so we were surrounded by fish, when we got out the water we were given rice and watermelon then sailed to a very blue lagoon to swim in. We sailed back to PhiPhi via Vikings Cave, we aren't really sure what the history is or why it is called Vikings Cave but it did appear that people were living in there. We got back to the island around 13:30 so collected our bags and caught the 14:30 ferry to Phuket.
