After my cuppa I mentioned in the previous post we went for a run. Even though it was still early it was already quite hot. We packed a day bag and headed into Zurich to a hire car place to get a car for the day to drive the race course and to head down to Lucerne. Unfortunely when we got into the city and to the car hire place it was absolutely ridiculously priced and we could not justify the expense. It would have been cheaper for a taxi to drive us around the entire country, so we boycotted the car hire idea and played tourist in the city instead. We went to the Landesmuseum (the national museum) which was fascinating, albeit a little bit challenging to understand as the English translation was either not there or behind the German, French or Spanish version. We were conscious of not being on our feet for too long so we kept moving. We had lunch (homemade sandwiches from the breakfast buffet again) sitting in the shade in the park on the main shopping strip - we barely said a word to each other as we were captivated by people watching. After wondering around (and having a cool beer) we headed back to Horgen on the ferry. Again we didn't talk a lot during this trip on the lake as there was so much to look at and take in. The lake was busy with a vast array of different activities from peddle boats, water skiing, sailing and the most popular activity of sun baking (topless for the Madges of course). This of course could not compare to the layers of hills that line the lake and the Alpes that dwarf everything from the south. It is almost too hard to focus on just one thing with so much to take in. Back to the room for a rest and listen to the cricket on the radio.
