It is about 6.30am and Sammy has gone for a ride, so it is a good chance to drink my cuppa and update our travel adventures. Yesterday was a good day - a relatively relaxing day settling into our new surrounds. We caught a train from the airport hotel straight down to our accommodation in Horgen, where we are right next to the train station (which made it easy to find...but also makes for a noisy hotel room!). Sam reconstructed his bike after the flight and everything seemed to have survived the flight (the bike bag wheel was a bit broken but importantly the contents was all ok!). Once we were unpacked Sam went for a ride and I went for a run - both of us were incredibly safe, it is amazing being in a place where there is space for riders and they are given right of way. Sam rode up to the start area for the race on Sunday (we are about 10km south of the area) and I think there were a couple of goosebumps!! It certainly felt like we were on holidays when after our riding and running and lunch (sandwiches we had taken from the buffet breakfast - mum and dad I thought you'd like that) we had a little nap. At about 4pm, with the sun still high in the sky, we went for a swim at a local pool that was on the lake (Sam in the lake - me in the pool). There were heaps of people swimming everywhere - there were barges, driving boards, zip lines, inflatables and yet the concept of a lifeguard seemed foreign to them! A beauitful dinner downstairs (which we couldn't read a word of the menu) and to sleep at about 9pm (when it was still light!) made for a really nice day.
