Greetings from Thailand!
Yangshuo (the rest of it!) - Had a wicked time at the cooking school learning how to make traditional Chinese dishes including dumplings! Yummy! And we have the recipies to try and poison you all when we come home! Hooray! We also went on a bike ride around the area which proved to be hilarious for a number of reasons! Firstly the seats were so small it literally bruised my arse! Honestly I know I have an ample bottom but that was ridiculous! I could hardly move! Luckily and randomly our local guide, Richard, had a girls bike and swapped with me! Ahh much more padding! Secondly, Helen went head to head with a water buffalo and lost! Honestly you have never seen anything funnier than Helen trying to swerve, cycle and run at the same time! Finally I (ahem) had a wobbly moment on a very narrow path and ended up with my bike inches away from a rice paddy (and buffalo poo!) but with me luckily on the ground! So so funny! Unfortuately I did lose Richards bell! Ah happy days!
Longji Valley - Nice and hot and great views when you had finally climbed up the rice terraces in the sun! No seriously the walking was knackering but actually quite enjoyable bar the annoying tribal women trying to carry our bags! Both hotels were basic but nice and while other very strange people went for extra hikes amongst the rice terraces, we enjoyed the sun, drinks and card playing! Thats definitely the life!1
Hong Kong - was fantastic! We didnt have much time there with the rest of the group but we really enjoyed ourselves with them when we could! We went to Victoria Peak to see the views of Hong Kong Harbour, went to the swanky bar areas and paid far too much for some very alcoholic cocktails and danced our arses off! We also spent quite alot of time wnadering around several markets manely Stanley Market, the Ladies Market and Temple Night Market! Also........................ WE WENT TO DISNEY LAND!!!!!! It was the best day ever! Helen and I regressed into our childhood and were soon choosing what princess we would be! Saw some fantastic shows which in my view definitely rivaled the Kung Fu show in Beijing! Was hilarious hearing disney voices but in Chinese! (Rebecca and Emily - next time I see you I think we should compare notes! I want to hear all about your fantastic holiday and how all the Disney lands compare!!)
Bangkok - we arrived in Thailand greated by rain! Argh!!!! Luckily it soon cleared up and we headed to Khaosan Road to find our hotel. So far we have been the the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (which houses the Emerald Budda), Wat Po (the Reclining Budda), The Standing Budda and the Sitting Budda (we just love our Buddas!!). We have also been to the Temple of Dawn, ridden the river ferry and been round the Vimanmek Mansion which we thoroughly enjoyed and spent time picking our parts we would live in (We chose yours aswell Clara!!). We have also endured many a Tuk-Tuk ride and had a standup row with one driver! Ohh also we have both had Cashmere Suits made which we are very pleased with!
So yes, all is very good with us! We are off on a tour tomorrow of the Floating Market and Nakron Phathom before flying to Chiang Mai on the 11th!
