We arrived in Kuala Lumpur early evening. We checked into our hostel which was really nice, we had such a fantastic location right in the heart of Bukit Butang which seemed to be near to everything we wanted to see. We headed straight out for some food, although it was Friday night we didn't manage to find the energy to stay out partying after our dinner so called it a night.
On Saturday we headed out to see the sights! Our first stop was the twin towers to book in a trip to go up them for the views over the city. We booked in for Tuesday afternoon so we then headed to the KL tower to book in for dinner in the 360 degree revolving restaurant. Along the way we must have passed at least 5 massive shopping malls, they are on every corner! So we had a bit of retail therapy too! On Saturday evening we went on a bar crawl! But tacky, but we hadn't done any up until then and we had no idea where to go out so we figured it was a good way to get shown around the city at night. It was so much fun, we met lots of nice people and had a really good night. I was really suffering the next day, I could barely get out of bed let alone traipse around the city in the intense humidity so we went to the cinema instead. Bit of a waste of the day but I think I experienced what it feels like to die of a hangover on that day!! Bleugh!! We had booked our dinner in the revolving restaurant for that evening so luckily, I was feeling better by then and was able to enjoy it! The food was incredible! It was a buffet, but a buffet like no other! There was every amazing item of food I could imagine, all really fresh and so delicious! And the views over the city were incredible.
The weather on Monday was really great, clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine. We fancied topping up our tans by a pool but couldn't seem to find any public pools anywhere. The owner of our hostel suggested we go into a nearby posh hotel and buy a drink at the pool bar then just make ourselves comfortable - so that's exactly what we did! It was lovely and relaxing. We were a bit nervous the staff might clock on and kick us out but we managed to get away with it!
In the evening we went to the Skybar for a cocktail and a view of the twin towers. The view really is amazing. We had so many great views of the city at night.
Our final day in KL before heading to our next destination was spent shopping and going up the twin towers (aka Petronas towers). To be honest I found the trip very underwhelming as by then we had already seen so many great views of the city it wasn't so amazing. But it's still a cool thing to do and we were glad to say we did it. In the evening we had to catch our overnight train to our next stop, Penang!
