We got a bus from Singapore to Melaka, it took about 3 hours to get there. The bus was okay, we were worried buses in Asia might not be as comfortable as the ones in Aus but actually the seats reclined back so much we could practically lie down! Melaka was really good, it was a taste of real Asia, rather than the busy city feel of Singapore. We only had one night there so we went and explored an area called Jonker Street which is quite lively and there is lots of food places along there. We had some nice noodle soup for super cheap. The receptionist at the hostel recommended a really popular Indian restaurant for us to go to in the evening. After a bit more exploring of the town, we headed back to our room to get showered and ready for the evening...we really needn't have bothered! The food was good but it was like a canteen and they didn't serve alcohol so it wasn't really an evening out as we'd hoped it was just a quick stop for food!
The next day we went to see a couple of temples and then the Melaka heritage museum. The museum was really interesting, we had to pay to get in but they gave us a guided tour and it had lots of links with England so was interesting to learn about. We then had to get our bus to Kuala Lumpur.
