We arrived in Singapore at about 9pm and got a shuttle bus straight to our hostel. We were both pretty shattered from travelling all day so just went straight to bed.
The next morning we went to explore the area, we got a bit lost at first because we were trying to find an address that we had seen on trip advisor for a food trail tour company but the address was wrong so we ended up wasting a couple of hours which was really annoying! In the afternoon we went to explore little India and had a walk around, I had my eyebrows threaded for next to nothing but the silly lady threaded off nearly my whole eyebrows and totally ruined the shape! Guess you get what you pay for! When we finally made it into the city centre we found a company that did a night tour of the city so we booked on to do it that evening. It was a really good trip, we got taken on an open top bus to a Hawker Centre which is pretty much a food market of all different types of Asian food, then we went to the 'super trees' which are massive man made trees with lights all over them and they do a light show to music in the evening. After that we went on a river cruise which gave us fantastic views of the city skyline at night. After the tour me and Od went to Raffles hotel for an original Singapore sling cocktail at The Long bar. It is apparently the creator of that cocktail...our bill came to $65 dollars for 1 cocktail each (about £40!) opps!
The next day we explored China town and went to another hawker centre for lunch. Lunch was delicious and more the Asian price level we were expecting (about £1.50). In the afternoon we wandered to the main shopping area called Orchard road, it's massive and had every shop you could imagine. One of the malls we walked into was about 10 storeys high! We found a little place to have a pedicure (as you do when backpacking!) then headed back to our hostel to get ready for an evening at Marina Bay Sands hotel. We heard that if you go to the restaurant on the top floor you don't have to pay the admission fee but still get the amazing view of the city at night. The view was incredible, but once again, we got stung by the price! It's so hard to stick to a budget when there are so many cool places to go! After dinner we went to the hotel casino, both of us had a little gamble and we both won a little bit which was good! We didn't feel so bad about splashing out on dinner then! The next morning we caught our bus to Malaysia - first stop, Malacca (or Melaka, it's spelt differently everywhere!)
