We are on Day 6. Lots has happened - we have enjoyed it all so far!!
Our bus ride to Cajamarca wed evening wasn't too eventful - we had a pretty awesome bus! It left at 6:15pm and we got to Cajamarca around 9:30am the next day. A man named Don Gilberto was there at the bus stop to pick us up and take us to his house. We had lunch there and then he took us to another bus stop (about 11:30am) where we took yet another bus to Chota, where we spent the night. We even got the special opportunity to buy magic liver pills from a Peruvian on the bus, but we had to pass it up.
Anyway we got off the bus in the pouring rain at about 4:30pm and a lady named Flor picked us up. Here the nickname for Flor is Ponchita! So Poncha picked us up and took us to her house. We got to have a great dinner with her and her mother. The next day her and her brother drove us to where the convention grounds are, in Olmos.
Sue explained to us that Olmos is more like a community of people than a city. It is on the side of a mountain and to get to the grounds, you have to hike for about 20 minutes from the road. (The hike becomes kind of interesting when it's pouring rain, you are walking in mud up to your ankles, and you have no rain boots! But it was a great experience and makes for a great story. ;)
All for now.

Abuela It's so good to hear from you! I recognize names and places. Yes, the traffic in Lima is scary. It was good for us that we have some experience in Tijuana so all I did was close my eyes. Lucky for you that we had one of the friends pick you up...we rode in a taxi!!! Have a wonderful special meetings in Olmos. Please greet don Esdrubal and his wife for us and everyone else.
Jon Whoops, forgot about mentioning the need for hiking boots in some of those places, but here in Chile you won't. That I know of!!
