DAY FIVE BANGKOK 25TH NOVEMBER

Hi everyone, eventually arrived in Bangkok at 2100 (5 hours too late), after all our excitement at the airport, we were absolutly cream crackered, did manage to get some sleep on my bed on the first flight but were reminded that we were really peasents when put back on economy for our second flight.  We shared a taxi with the english couple from the airport well they were actually welsh, they were really nice but not staying at our hotel.  Hotel/hostel is set on busy street called soi rambuttri but is set back so is not too noisy, its not far from the infamous khao san road but we havnt encountered that yet.  The room is very basic has an english channel tele but no wardrobe, looks fairly clean but wouldnt want to look too closely, think fairy dusters would come in handy!, cant expect much more for bargain price of 10 pound a night, these prices are much more to our liking!  Didnt get in the room till 2230 so didnt go out.  Today didnt wake till 1100 and set out for the grand palace and grounds, heat hit us straight away was about 33 and was not helped by the fact that we were both wearing trainers and jeans due to the strict dresscode at the temples.  Tuk tuk drivers were trying to intice us the whole way but have been told they rip you off so we are saving that one.  Walk took 45 mins and we were so hot,  it was impressive when we got there lots of photo opportunities, the main draw is an emerald budha which is quite small but is up high, hes made out of jade and all the locals were preying in front of him, we had to take our shoes off and sit down. We were there for nearly two hours as so much to see and kept on having to sit down in the shade.  We then went to Wat Po temple and saw the reclining bronze budha it is huge 45m long and 15m high and all gold.  There was also a pond with a waterful and it had a turtle swimming in it.  We then walked to little india and china town which again was exhausting, just full of roadside stalls and lots of flower stalls.  Came back and went to the rooftop pool it was so nice did 30 lengths to try and ensure i dont become obese but if i have put weight on after all this walking i will not be happy!  Cant put photos on at mo as we are in an internet cafe next to reception so cant do photos, will have to wait for them.  Have sent a hong kong postcard to parents and each of the childrens houses, will take ages though, will send another from Thailand.  Reading that H is going lectures and Suzanne is doing an essay is really helping to alleviate my home sickness!! and Alex we like Pauls pink jumper and we didnt eat crows feet im afraid so will leave that to you!  Adam you better get saving for your ticket cause its not in our budget and Darren send us some photos with your new camera!

Gotta go now deceide where we are going tonight maybe a pingpong show or some kick boxing, who knows, or maybe we will look for some hairy feet and adams apples on people with pretty faces!

Mam and Dad will phone you soon but cant get timing right tried to email you but mustnt have the right address, will ring soon and maybe some other lucky people! but not all at once!
