9th AUGUST 1770/AGNES WATERS
Gday people! So got to 1770 on Tuesday evening.Only came here as Alice and Katie (fraserisl) had convinced it was not to be missed.1770 (called as captain cook landed then) is a tiny place but we were actually staying in the tiny place next door Agnes water.Stayed at a place called cool bananas, place was cool too with good vibe, music, comfy chairs and $5 meals.Stayed in a 6 bedded dorm with 4 Irish girls, they were really nice but were never there due to trips which were even nicer. Also really cool bloke that runs it called Greg, he helped us out so much with our Whitsunday's trip, getting us special deal and giving us free internet time.
Wednesday went on free tour of 2 towns which was cool then at 1430 went on a tour called scooteroos basically got there and on these Harley style motorbikes in a group of 40.Its run by a 50yr old South African whose mother is a Geordie, looks right out of the hells angels, goatee, bandanna just minus the gut!So got on the road, quiet but with traffic, we were single file and slow to begin with, he was in front. We went up to 80km and then could take over.Saw roos and stopped at a field of them, they hopped over the fence away from us, one with a Joey in pouch. We then stopped at the pub and had some wedges sitting on rocks on the beach watching the sunset, so were gone 4hrs and was only $40 each!
Well very excited as finally been able to put my photos on, big weight off my shoulders!More exciting than that, we have just been up in a plane which Paul also flew!Got picked up at 0915 and taken to a grassed runway, stupidly had breakfast first, not good idea! There were 4 of us including the pilot with 2 in the back, we went with another girl from the hostel, and she went up front first.Bruce was our pilot; he did lots of unwarned acrobatics, dropping the plane, doing loops, turning on side etc!Flew over the sea seeing mantaray and turtle and then landed on a deserted island called MiddleIsland.Had a walk around and ate some oysters from the rocks and played with crabs. Also gave me an opportunity for my nausea to settle, was very unimpressed with myself! When we got back in it was Paul's turn to get in the front seat, he could turn and go up and down.He took the controls for 5 mins as coming in to land but didn't land it, thank god!All lasted 2 hours so was lots of fun and only $75 (32 pound) each! Got a cd to so will be funny.
So this afternoon have done our photos so you can now see all the wonderful ones!Just had spag on toast for lunch, we know how to live don't we!Also have been to the beach but its very cloudy so rested. Went back and played scrabble, Paul thrashed me, don't know how that happened! Then Rachael that worked with at the price of Wales cheked in, knew she was in Queensland but didn't no where. Was a very good surprise, caught up with her over banana crepes before having to catch our bus to Airlie beach.
10th august
So now in airlie beach, got 10hr overnight bus last night, getting here at 0630.Was pretty horrendous but took a sleepy antihistamine and did sleep some. When we got to our hostel, wanting to go to bed the room wasn't ready till 0930!So we have got a double room and slept till 1430!Have done some washing as we were starting to smell! Its pure cloud has been for 4 days now, wish it would go away.We go on Whitsunday's trip on Sunday morning till Tuesday evening, staying on the boat, should be good, and just hope weather improves!
LOVE AND MISS YOU LOADS LAURA AND PAULXXXXX
